Senior/Associate Electrical Engineer - Substations / Data Centres

Join our Transmission & Distribution team as a Senior or Associate Electrical Engineer and work on iconic projects that deliver future-ready outcomes for communities across Australia. What You’ll Do As a Senior or Associate Electrical Engineer, you’ll own complex, multi-disciplinary projects, applying your expertise in substation design and high-voltage systems to shape the energy networks of tomorrow. In this role you will: Lead HV (primary) design for transmission & distribution substations, HV infrastructure, and data centre projects—covering layouts, ratings, sizing, and technical oversight. Develop detailed specifications at both project and equipment levels. Apply knowledge of power system protection, SCADA systems, transmission lines, underground cables, and earthing design. Support high-voltage scope for Owner’s Engineer and Technical Due Diligence projects. Review and verify designs and reports prepared by peers. Mentor junior engineers and champion technical excellence. Drive Safety-in-Design (SID) and ensure compliance with legislative requirements. Collaborate across disciplines—civil, structural, geotechnical, secondary, drafting, and control systems. Undertake short-term site visits as needed. Contribute to proposals and business development initiatives. About You Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. 7–15+ years’ post-graduate experience in HV/EHV electrical engineering. RPEQ/RPEV registration or eligibility. Proven engineering consultancy experience. Chartered status at Associate level Strong background in substation design, HV infrastructure, cable systems, transmission & distribution utilities, renewable energy projects, and/or data centres. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, robust advice to clients. Skilled in proposal and report writing. Why WSP?
