Sr. Contracts Manager - EMEA

Primary Function of Position: The Sr. Contracts Manager – EMEA is a key member of Global Enterprise Procurement's (GEP), Contract Center of Excellence (CoE) and serves as the EMEA lead for procurement contracting activities. The role is responsible for managing, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial purchasing agreements that support Intuitive's business operations throughout EMEA, while also providing support to APAC and AMER procurement activities as business needs require. As part of the GEP Contract Center of Excellence, the successful candidate will lead the EMEA CoE function and contribute to the continuous improvement of global procurement contracting processes, governance, and capabilities. Roles and Responsibilities: Serve as the EMEA lead for the Global Enterprise Procurement's, Contract Center of Excellence. Partner closely with Strategic Legal, Finance, Regulatory, Privacy, and IT Security to support commercial negotiations and contract execution activities. Lead the review, drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex, strategic, and high-risk procurement agreements, including construction and facilities projects, manufacturing operations, intellectual property and work product arrangements, technology agreements, professional services, and other business-critical engagements. Develop and maintain procurement contract templates, clause libraries, negotiation playbooks, training materials, and standard operating procedures to enable sourcing professionals to effectively manage lower-risk and lower-value contracting activities. Establish and maintain contract governance processes, approval frameworks, and contracting best practices that balance risk mitigation with business agility. Act as a subject matter expert on procurement contracting, providing guidance on contractual risk, commercial considerations, operational impacts, intellectual property protections, data privacy requirements, and regulatory compliance. Build contracting capability across the procurement organization through formal training, coaching, and knowledge-sharing programs. Support procurement transformation initiatives through the standardization, simplification, and automation of contracting processes. Identify opportunities to improve contracting efficiency, cycle times, risk visibility, and stakeholder experience through process and technology enhancements. Partner with Legal to resolve complex contractual matters and ensure alignment with corporate policies and applicable regional regulations. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: University law degree (e.g., Erstes Staatsexamen / Diplom-Jurist / LLM). At least 10 years of relevant post-qualification legal or contract experience. Experience in negotiating key contractual terms and conditions. Knowledge of contract management best practices and commercial contract law. Demonstrated experience leading complex commercial procurement negotiations across multiple spend categories and geographic regions. Experience supporting procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or commercial operations functions in a global organization. Strong understanding of procurement contracting principles, supplier risk management, and commercial negotiation strategies. Experience developing contract templates, clause libraries, negotiation playbooks, governance frameworks, and contracting training programs. Practical knowledge of GDPR and EU regulatory considerations relevant to contracts. Comfortable working autonomously with cross-functional teams and commercial stakeholders. Ability to balance legal, commercial, operational, and business considerations when negotiating agreements. Fluency in English and German are required.
