As a Junior Mine Waste/Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals on tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and water management systems, gaining hands-on experience in field investigations, analysis, and project delivery while helping shape the future of mining infrastructure. Your Impact Conduct geotechnical site investigations and dam construction quality assurance fieldwork to support safe and reliable mine waste facilities. Interpret site investigation and laboratory testing data to inform engineering decisions and project recommendations. Prepare and contribute to technical reports, assessments, and project documentation. Perform stability, seepage, and liquefaction analyses to evaluate facility performance and risk. Support the development and implementation of mine waste management strategies and plans. Monitor and evaluate the performance of tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and water management systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, environmental scientists, water resource engineers, and project managers. Provide technical support during project planning, design, construction, and operational phases. The Skills That Set You Apart Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and industry best practices. 0 to 3 years of experience in mine waste management, geotechnical engineering, mining, or a related field. Experience using geotechnical software such as GeoStudio. Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) registration or active registration with a provincial engineering association. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites and perform fieldwork as required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field. Experience with tailings dam design, assessment, or management. Familiarity with environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and mining industry standards. Exposure to project coordination or project management activities.
