Bridge Inspection Engineering Intern- Summer 2027

Our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New Jersey is seeking a Full-Time Bridge Inspection Intern to work out of our Lawrenceville, NJ, United States office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program. This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 17th, 2027. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible Your Impact Support a range of bridge and infrastructure inspection projects. Assist with structural engineering tasks and bridge inspections under the guidance of experienced staff. Assist with preparing plans and sketches using Visio and MicroStation. Support engineering assignments that build technical, interpersonal, and ethical skills. Assist with project research and field work. Collect, organize, and maintain project documentation. Complete training for assignment-specific tasks. Learn and apply basic structural engineering techniques and industry practices. Make responsible, ethical decisions regarding company funds, resources, and conduct while following WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Perform other duties as business needs require. Who You Are Required Qualifications Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later. Must be 18 or older. Interest in learning about bridge and sign structure inspection and developing related technical skills. Coursework or foundational knowledge in structural engineering principles. Physical ability to perform continuous field work, including working at heights and in confined spaces; climbing; carrying ladders and equipment; working in adverse weather, at night, and around moving vehicles. Ability to work in and around water, including boat and wader work. Ability to work in a role that may be approximately 50% field-based and 50% office-based. Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with a willingness to ask questions and learn from others. Basic written communication, computer, spreadsheet, and organizational skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proven commitment to workplace safety and ability to follow WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules based on project needs, which may include night work, workdays longer than 8 hours, and weekends. Ability to follow direction, accept feedback, and complete assigned tasks under supervision. Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Visio, MicroStation, and AutoCAD. Previous internship, relevant coursework, student organization participation, or campus leadership experience. Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $19 - $30 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
