Financial Services Specialist

Accountabilities:: Accurately post payments to patient accounts and maintain up-to-date financial records. Manage a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls each day, addressing patient account questions and financial concerns efficiently and professionally. Review outstanding balances to determine the reason for unpaid amounts and identify the appropriate next steps for resolution. Review and update patient demographic and insurance information when inaccuracies may prevent appropriate payment from primary or secondary insurance coverage. Make necessary corrections to patient records to help ensure future insurance claims and patient statements are accurate. Explain financial responsibilities and amounts not covered by insurance in a clear, courteous, and professional manner. Protect the confidentiality of patient information while communicating account details and exercising tact, patience, and understanding in every customer interaction. Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Previous medical billing experience is a plus, particularly experience working with patient accounts, insurance information, or healthcare financial processes. Customer service experience is preferred, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients. Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of incoming and outgoing calls effectively. Ability to prioritize competing tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Comfortable working with Windows-based computer programs and learning medical billing and other automated systems. Previous NextGen experience is preferred, although training is provided.
