Financial Crimes Quality Assurance (QA) Sr. Analyst

Accountabilities:: Perform quality checks and complex, high-risk QA reviews of Second Line of Defense financial crimes activities across BSA/AML, Sanctions, and Fraud. Evaluate analyst work for accuracy, completeness, consistency, appropriate risk-based judgment, and alignment with internal standards and regulatory expectations. Assess the effectiveness of Second Line oversight, including whether issues are appropriately identified, escalated, challenged, and resolved. Review deficiencies, observations, and issues identified during QA activities for appropriateness, completeness, severity, and supporting evidence. Assist with validating issue remediation and reviewing closure documentation for identified findings. Provide coaching, technical guidance, feedback, and on-the-job training to QA Analysts. Support calibration activities to promote consistent QA methodologies, assessments, and outcomes across the team. Identify recurring issues, emerging trends, anomalies, and potential control weaknesses, clearly articulating gaps and root causes. Assist in developing and maintaining QA methodologies tailored to Second Line oversight and challenge functions. Develop and refine test scripts, defect taxonomies, and scoring frameworks focused on governance, escalation, decision quality, and oversight effectiveness. Ensure clear differentiation between First Line execution errors and Second Line oversight deficiencies. Identify opportunities to standardize oversight practices, strengthen documentation and governance protocols, and use data analytics to detect inconsistencies. Support QA reporting, metrics, management updates, and other materials used to communicate program performance. Contribute to continuous improvement of the overall financial crimes QA program and its effectiveness. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field. 5–8+ years of progressive experience in financial crimes, including AML, Sanctions, Fraud, or related compliance functions. Direct experience in Second Line of Defense financial crimes oversight, or quality assurance/testing of financial crimes functions. Strong knowledge of BSA/AML and sanctions regulatory expectations and financial crime risk management frameworks. Solid understanding of roles and responsibilities within a Three Lines of Defense model. Experience reviewing complex financial crime cases and providing effective oversight, challenge, and judgment. Experience reviewing other professionals’ work products and assessing the quality of decisions, controls, and supporting documentation. Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and professional judgment skills. High level of independence, professional skepticism, attention to detail, and commitment to consistency and governance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings, gaps, risks, and recommendations. Ability to influence and appropriately challenge peers and stakeholders within Compliance. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple reviews and priorities. Ability to provide constructive feedback, coaching, and technical guidance. CAMS, CFE, CRCM, or equivalent AML certification is preferred. Experience with Transaction Monitoring, Suspicious Activity Investigations, CDD/EDD, or Sanctions compliance is preferred. Experience using data analytics or reporting tools to support QA activities is preferred.
