Back-end Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

Accountabilities: Lead and contribute to impactful engineering projects involving the development and continuous improvement of SaaS solutions. Participate in designing, evolving, and improving the overall software architecture to support scalability, reliability, and maintainability. Design, implement, and maintain distributed services, backend systems, and RESTful APIs. Collaborate with engineers across teams and squads, as well as product managers and other stakeholders, to deliver effective technical solutions. Write clean, scalable, high-quality code and contribute to maintaining a robust and sustainable codebase. Develop and maintain comprehensive automated test coverage to ensure software quality and reliability. Improve platform availability and maintainability through architectural enhancements, technology evolution, and continuous optimization. Participate in code reviews, refactoring initiatives, and improvements to integration and delivery processes. Apply agile development practices and contribute to a collaborative, solution-oriented engineering culture. Requirements: At least 5 years of professional experience in backend software engineering. Strong proficiency in Kotlin and practical experience building backend applications with JVM technologies. Experience with other JVM languages, such as Java, Groovy, or Scala, is an advantage. Proven experience designing scalable software systems, ideally within a successful SaaS product environment. Good understanding of containerization, microservices, event-driven architectures, cloud computing, and RESTful APIs. Strong knowledge of several relevant technologies, including: Spring Boot and Hibernate. JUnit and automated testing frameworks. AWS services, including SES and Lambda. Elasticsearch and MySQL. Docker and OpenAPI. Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern software development practices. Additional experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, SQS, and SNS is a plus. Knowledge of Terraform is an advantage. Ability to work independently, take ownership, and approach technical challenges with creativity and initiative. Strong collaboration skills and a positive, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset. Advanced written and spoken English proficiency, with the ability to communicate effectively in a remote and largely asynchronous environment.
