Our tight-knit, high-energy startup thrives on collaboration and innovation, crafting Web and API solutions that redefine efficiency in real estate tech. # Job Description: We're seeking a passionate Senior Full Stack Engineer to shape Rentable's Security Deposit Management platform, building our standalone Web App and API-driven integrations with property management software (PMS). You'll craft shared core services, collaborate closely with our team, and deliver solutions that drive our business forward in a fast-paced startup. AI coding agents are core to how we work. Cursor and Claude Code are part of how we plan and write code every day, and we're looking for someone who has already made AI part of how they think and build. # Key Responsibilities: - **Build the Deposit Platform:** Develop and enhance features for our Web App and API-driven integrations with PMS (e.g., Yardi, Rent Manager, Entrata, MRI, AppFolio), working on shared core services for deposit workflows, ledgers, and reconciliations. - **Design for Correctness:** Model data and design services that hold up under scale and failure. Two writes can land on the same ledger at once, a PMS API can time out and get retried, and the balance still has to be right every time. - **Ship with AI:** Use AI coding agents to move faster, think bigger, and build smarter. You'll know when to lean on them, how to get the most out of them, and how to stay in the driver's seat. - **Own Test Strategy:** Write testable, high-quality code and know what to test at what layer. Drive test coverage that keeps systems reliable and observable, and strengthen Rentable's testing practices. - **Own What Gets Built:** Engineering owns product at Rentable. You'll talk with customer success, leadership, and property managers directly, then turn what you hear into shipped features. - **Raise the Bar:** Lift the team through thoughtful code review, design feedback, and pairing. You'll shape how we build, not just what we build. - **Learn and Influence:** Dive into Rentable's domain, mastering PMS workflows and accounting modules, and contribute ideas to shape features, architecture, and technical decisions. # Qualifications: **Experience:** - Track record of building and owning production systems end-to-end. Django and React experience is beneficial, not required. - Experience working through concurrency problems: race conditions, locking, idempotency, and the bugs that only appear under load. - Hands-on, regular use of AI coding agents as part of your development workflow. This is how we build. - Familiarity with property management software (e.g., Yardi, Rent Manager) or their accounting modules is a plus. Picks up complex domains quickly. - Strong experience designing and integrating APIs (RESTful, SOAP). **Technical Skills:** - Computing Fundamentals: Comfortable reasoning about data structures, complexity, concurrency, and failure modes. CS degree or equivalent depth. - Backend: Proficiency in Python/Django (preferred) or similar (e.g., Flask, FastAPI). - Frontend: Proficiency in React (preferred) or similar (e.g., Vue.js, Angular). - Database: Experience with MySQL (preferred) or similar (e.g., PostgreSQL). - Cloud: Familiarity with AWS (preferred) or equivalent (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud). - AI Tooling: Comfortable using Cursor and Claude Code to plan, scaffold, and iterate on code as a regular part of your workflow. - Testing: Experience building test strategy and writing testable code. Expected to strengthen and expand Rentable's testing practices. - Cultural Fit: Strong communicator with good judgment.
