Senior FastAPI Backend Developer - Contract Role with Opportunity for Full-Time

**Location:** Remote **Nature of collaboration:** Contract Role with Opportunity for Full-Time **Hourly rate:** **$10–$25 per hour** ## **Overview** We’re hiring a **Senior FastAPI Backend Developer** to design and build scalable backend systems and APIs for modern web applications. If you enjoy working with **Python, FastAPI, databases, and well-structured backend architectures**, and have experience building production-grade systems and implementing complex business workflows, we’d love to hear from you. ## **Key Responsibilities** * Design and develop scalable backend services using **FastAPI** * Build modular APIs for internal and external applications * Design data models and database interactions using **Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, and PostgreSQL** * Implement complex business logic and workflows * Integrate third-party APIs and services * Identify and resolve backend performance and reliability issues * Contribute to backend architecture and technical decisions * Collaborate with frontend and infrastructure engineers on application delivery ## **Must Have** * **5+ years of professional backend development experience** * Strong proficiency in **Python** * Production experience with **FastAPI** * Hands-on experience with **Pydantic and SQLAlchemy** * Strong experience working with **PostgreSQL** or similar relational databases * Experience designing and implementing **REST APIs** * Experience integrating **third-party APIs** and implementing complex business workflows * Good understanding of **asynchronous programming and concurrency in Python** * Ability to work independently within an existing codebase and make sound technical decisions ## **Good to Have** * Experience with **Celery, Dramatiq, Redis, or RabbitMQ** * Familiarity with **event-driven architectures** * Experience with **distributed systems** * Experience with **workflow orchestration** * Exposure to **Next.js** or modern frontend frameworks * Experience building **SaaS products or internal business applications** * Experience with **AI/LLM integrations or AI-powered applications** * Experience with backend **performance optimization and scaling** ## **To Apply** Please share: * A brief overview of your backend development experience * Examples of **FastAPI/Python systems** you’ve built or contributed to * Details of projects involving **complex backend integrations or workflows** * Relevant **GitHub repositories, portfolio projects, or case studies** * Your availability and expected hourly rate
