FastAPI Backend Developer — Contract Role with Opportunity for Full-Time

**Location:** Remote **Nature of collaboration:** Contract Role with Opportunity for Full-Time **Hourly rate:** $10–$15 per hour **Monthly compensation (if full time):** USD 1,000–1,500/month ## **Overview** We’re looking for a **FastAPI Backend Developer** to help us build and maintain backend systems and APIs for modern web applications. This role is a good fit for a developer with hands-on experience in **Python and FastAPI**, who is comfortable working with APIs, databases, integrations, and real-world business workflows. ## **Key Responsibilities** * Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using **Python and FastAPI** * Build APIs for web applications and internal tools * Design and implement database models and queries * Integrate third-party APIs and external services * Implement business logic and application workflows * Collaborate with frontend developers on API integration * Debug and improve existing backend functionality * Contribute to code reviews and ongoing backend improvements ## **Must Have** * **3+ years of professional experience** in Python backend development * Hands-on experience with **FastAPI** or a similar Python web framework * Practical experience building and consuming **REST APIs** * Experience with **Pydantic and SQLAlchemy** * Working knowledge of **PostgreSQL** or another relational database * Understanding of **asynchronous programming** in Python * Experience integrating **third-party APIs** * Ability to understand existing codebases and independently complete development tasks ## **Good to Have** * Experience with **Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ**, or similar tools * Familiarity with **background tasks and job processing** * Experience with **AWS, GCP, Railway**, or other cloud platforms * Exposure to **Next.js** or other frontend frameworks * Experience working with **AI/LLM APIs or AI-powered applications** * Familiarity with **CI/CD pipelines** ## **To Apply** Please share: * A brief overview of your **Python/FastAPI experience** * Examples of backend systems or APIs you’ve built * Details of projects involving **FastAPI, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy**, or third-party API integrations * Relevant **GitHub repositories, portfolio projects, or case studies** * Your availability and expected hourly rate
