Hardware Design Engineer

**About Tricog:** Tricog Health is a medical technology company delivering telecardiology at scale. Our InstaECG and InstaEcho platforms combine AI with a team of cardiologists to report ECGs in under 20 minutes (critical cases within 10 minutes) and echocardiograms within 2 hours, detecting over 140 heart conditions across clinics, emergency departments, cardiac care units and cath labs. At this point, we have diagnosed more than 13 million lives of patients. Our hardware team designs the devices behind this service, from the ECG recorders and the VCardia point-of-care system to a new ultrasound platform. **Role Details:** - Experience: 4–5 years of hands-on electronics hardware design. - Location: Bangalore. **What You'll Do:** * Design schematics and layout PCBs; own bring-up and debugging of new boards. * Characterise boards on the bench (oscilloscope, logic analyser, power measurements) against requirements, and run pre-compliance checks (EMC, IEC 60601-1) before the test house. * Evaluate analog and differential signal chains; characterise performance against requirements. * Select components by going through datasheets under real constraints (cost, power, availability, lead time) * Take a board from design through fabrication, assembly and production test, working with contract manufacturers and vendors. * Write Python or C scripts for hardware validation, test automation, and data analysis. * Use AI tools (Claude Code, NotebookLM, etc.) to accelerate design work, debugging, and documentation. * Read and summarise technical papers; translate findings into actionable design decisions. * Collaborate with firmware and software engineers; communicate clearly across a distributed team. **Must-Have Skills:** * Schematic capture and PCB layout (KiCAD) with more than 4-layer PCBs. * Power supply design: LDOs, DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters. * Understanding of analog circuits and differential signal standards (ADC or AFE chip based design knowledge, LVDS or MIPI DSI, USB, HDMI) * Datasheet reading and component selection under real design constraints. * Communication protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet. * Python or C/C++ for scripting, test tooling, or embedded support. * Strong English communication; comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. **Good to Have:** * Board design around an FPGA (power sequencing, configuration, high-speed I/O, layout) * Firmware development in C for microcontrollers, enough to bring up and test your own boards. * Working with AI agents (Claude Code or similar) as part of the daily design workflow. * Medical device design experience (IEC 60601-1 or similar) * Linux SoM / compute-module based system design (MIPI, high-speed interfaces) * High-channel-count analog front ends (ultrasound, multi-channel ADC systems) * Wireless standards: Bluetooth, WiFi, LTE. * Any hardware product taken from design all the way through to mass production. **Who You Are:** * Curious and self-driven — comfortable picking up research papers and figuring things out * independently without being asked. * Collaborative and pleasant to work with — you contribute to a positive team environment and * people enjoy working with you * Proactive communicator — you flag blockers early and share findings openly * Growth mindset — open to learning new tools and domains (FPGA, AI tooling, new analog techniques) as the work demands.
