CMM Operator

Primary Function of Position: The IQC CMM Operator will be performing dimensional and visual inspections of purchased parts, assemblies, and products to ensure incoming specifications have been met prior to release to manufacturing and finished goods. In addition, the IQC CMM operator will use the CMM (coordinate measuring machine) to measure components and EFT’s. Document and communicate the results of inspections and process audits to engineers and others. Roles & Responsibilities: Verify programs for Zeiss coordinate measuring machines that are update before using ot. Use the CMM Zeiss Machines. Provide guidance to ISI Engineering regarding GD&T. Perform First Article inspections using CMM and hand tools (calipers, gage blocks, etc.) as required to support IQC process. Perform component part inspections using CMM and hand tools (calipers, gage blocks, etc.) as required to support IQC process. Prepare and publish Gage R&R studies (Range & Repeatability). Perform and publish measurement correlation studies between ISI and ISI suppliers. Communicate inspection results to engineers and others including ISI suppliers. Perform dimensional analysis for internal ISI customers (design / manufacturing engineers) as required. Provide guidance to IQC Engineers with respect to inspection techniques, GD&T, and fixture & gage design. Safety: Follows GMPs and wears safety equipment to perform his/her endeavors. Participates on Safety commission when required and/or safety training. Utilize the correct tooling and equipment according to work instructions or inspection lot requirements, reporting any condition of wear off or damaged tooling or equipment. Escalates any safety issues with supervisor or manager. Follows 5S methodology on the respective areas. Reports any safety device on equipment that is fault or is suspicious of been damaged. Quality: Performs inspection using more complex datums during inspection requiring complex fixture set ups and completes inspection report. Interact with computer-based software to assist on inspection activities and record inspection results. Performs and records First Article Inspection to qualify tooling, new parts, and route report for approvals. Performs and follow up status for Engineering requests activities and report results as required. Interpret complex mechanical drawings to understand dimensional inspection characteristics, including GD&T metrology concepts. Review supplier’s supplied documentation to evaluate it has the required information/test results per part drawings specification. Able to execute validation of new or revised programs, inspection methods by using statistical techniques as correlation studies or GR&R. Perform inspection on parts/fixtures for the PMC (Calibration group) Operate Zeiss CMM machines use Calypso software. Ability to communicate with Engineers, buyers, and suppliers on inspection/documentation issues. Efficiency: Perform raw material inspection process on time and following procedures, move inspected material to required physical location based on lot disposition. Assigns location for material pending for IQC inspection by using IQC locator App. Records in Q360 inspection results for every inspected lot. Updates log files with daily activities. Participates on Continuous Improvement projects, kaizen or just do it events. Cost: Propose and participates on improvement projects for the equipment or process under his/her responsibility or ISI Property. People: Study and records all assigned curriculum by ISU (Intuitive Surgical University) Creates self-evaluation for CIP and MERIT Follows ISI Policies, Rules and code of conduct Productivity: Meet daily average goal for inspection. Proficient on the use of advance inspection tools/equipment, i.e., vision systems, height gages, dial indicators, surface finish, etc. Able to operate mostly of automated equipment Keyence or CMM. Comply with efficiency metrics defined by the department management.
