Senior Engineer - Power Systems

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Power System Studies Engineer to sit within our GCC India office. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing electrical studies for utility and industrial/commercial clients. Applicable power systems primarily include conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, transmission systems, and distribution systems. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field. 8-12 years of power system studies experience. Must have strong troubleshooting skills Excellent research skills with analytical mindset. General understanding of electrical engineering as applied in design engineering of large capital projects. Familiarity with relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules, conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Engineer in Training certification or PE certification is desirable but not required. Master’s degree with emphasis in power systems preferred. Experience working with models from NERC regional entities (WECC, MRO, SERC etc.), NERC compliance Power system courses covering topics such as three-phase power, load flow and reactive compensation, protective relaying, symmetrical components, transmission line theory, power system transients, dynamic stability, and power system electromagnetics Preferred Competency Strong technical judgment and decision‑making ability Client‑focused and collaborative style Ability to balance technical rigor with project delivery needs Clear communicator across technical and non‑technical audiences Commitment to safety, quality, and professional excellence BGV: Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
