Software Engineer - Data Products & AI Applications

Accountabilities:: Design and develop executive-ready applications on modern data platforms, translating stakeholder requirements and business needs into functional, intuitive, and scalable products. Build full-stack application capabilities, including APIs, front-end experiences, integrations, and supporting development workflows that enable reliable delivery. Develop BI-style dashboards, visualizations, and reporting components that transform raw or early-stage data into clear, actionable insights for executive audiences. Contribute product thinking to prioritized use-case backlogs, helping define requirements, evaluate opportunities, and scope future implementation phases. Participate actively in client workshops, discovery sessions, and weekly status reviews, communicating technical progress, challenges, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Apply AI and machine learning capabilities where appropriate, identifying opportunities to enhance application functionality and deliver additional value through applied AI. Collaborate with project stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle, balancing technical considerations, user needs, timelines, and evolving project priorities. Requirements: Bring 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with exposure to data engineering, data products, analytics applications, or related data-focused development. Demonstrate full-stack development experience, including API development, CI/CD practices, and modern front-end technologies such as React, NextJS, or TypeScript. Have experience building internal tools, dashboards, or applications on top of data platforms, with Databricks Apps experience considered a strong advantage. Experience with other application and low-code/no-code frameworks such as Retool, Streamlit, Power Apps, or similar technologies is also valuable. Be comfortable working with business intelligence tools, particularly Power BI, and have the ability to transform complex or early-stage datasets into executive-friendly visualizations and reporting experiences. Possess familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts, with an understanding of how these capabilities can be applied in practical, product-oriented contexts. Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work confidently in a client-facing consulting environment. Be comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where requirements may evolve and engineers are expected to contribute beyond implementation into product thinking and solution design. Experience in energy, mining, or other industrial and resource-focused sectors is considered a valuable additional asset.
