Senior Systems Engineer

Accountabilities:: Supervise and develop a small team of systems administrators and engineers, including coaching, workload management, goal setting, on-call coordination, and career development. Engineer and operate Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, ADCS/PKI, and Entra ID/Azure AD, including synchronization and SSO capabilities. Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams, covering licensing, permissions, policies, transport connectors, retention, and service health. Drive Intune capabilities for imaging, application packaging, policy management, updates, secure baselines, and compliance reporting. Own VMware vSphere/vCenter environments running on Cisco UCS-X, including host builds, clusters, HA/DRS, templates, lifecycle management, firmware baselines, and performance optimization. Operate enterprise storage platforms, including Pure Storage and Isilon/PowerScale, covering provisioning, performance, snapshots, replication, quotas, ACLs, and SMB/NFS services. Administer Cohesity backup environments, including policies, immutability, replication, recovery objectives, restore testing, and maintenance of operational runbooks. Use PowerShell and, where appropriate, Python to automate repetitive tasks, health checks, configuration enforcement, and operational processes. Maintain infrastructure diagrams, CMDB records, technical documentation, and runbooks to support operational consistency and readiness. Partner with cybersecurity teams on CIS/NIST hardening, vulnerability remediation, privileged access management, patching, and incident response. Maintain effective monitoring and alerting and develop dashboards covering capacity, performance, backup success, patch compliance, and SLA/SLO performance. Serve as the technical owner for OEM and technology partner relationships, coordinating upgrades, infrastructure refreshes, and projects while minimizing operational disruption. Contribute to infrastructure budgeting, forecasting, roadmap development, and long-term technology planning. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in daily technical decisions while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Participate in training, workshops, webinars, and other learning initiatives to maintain current technical knowledge. Provide proactive and professional support to internal and external stakeholders, responding effectively to technical questions, concerns, and issues. Requirements: 10+ years of experience in enterprise systems engineering or systems administration, including at least 2 years supervising or leading systems administrators or engineers. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Relevant certifications such as Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Azure Administrator or Identity, VMware VCP-DCV, Pure/EMC/Isilon, Cohesity, or ITIL are a plus. Proven production experience with Pure Storage, Isilon/PowerScale, and Cohesity. Advanced expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, ADCS/PKI, and Entra ID/Azure AD. Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, identity synchronization, SSO, and foundational conditional access concepts. Experience with VMware vSphere/vCenter and enterprise virtualization environments. Strong understanding of enterprise storage, backup, replication, disaster recovery, and RPO/RTO practices. Proficiency with PowerShell and familiarity with Python for automation and systems administration. Knowledge of infrastructure security, CIS/NIST hardening, vulnerability remediation, privileged access, patch management, and incident response. Experience with infrastructure monitoring, capacity management, performance analysis, and operational reporting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable productivity software. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong leadership, coaching, prioritization, problem-solving, and independent decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail, service quality, confidentiality, and professionalism. Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods, lift up to 15 pounds periodically, access workplace facilities, and perform computer-based activities; reasonable accommodations may be available where appropriate.
