Senior FPGA Engineer - (RF/Comm Systems/Simulink)

Accountabilities:: Collaborate with RF, DSP, firmware, software, FPGA, and test engineers to deliver robust embedded processing solutions for communications and networking systems. Own FPGA firmware development from MATLAB and/or Simulink algorithms and requirements definition through architecture, design, implementation, verification, integration, support, and sustainment. Develop and optimize FPGA implementations for low-cost FPGAs, SoCs, and SoMs. Establish and improve development workflows and engineering best practices covering HDL architecture, design, simulation, verification, and system-level testing. Develop microprocessor interface control documents (ICDs) supporting FPGA integration with message and data-handling architectures. Support hardware and embedded systems development from initial concept through production and ongoing system sustainment. Test, troubleshoot, and integrate FPGA and embedded solutions across complex communications hardware and PCB assemblies. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical discipline. 6+ years of experience designing, implementing, and verifying FPGA-based systems using VHDL or Verilog. Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional hardware or embedded systems teams and taking firmware/software solutions from concept to production. Experience using code-generation tools to translate MATLAB/Simulink algorithms into FPGA implementations, including at least 2 years of Simulink experience. Proficiency in C and C++ and experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS). Familiarity with MCU, CPU, FPGA, and related embedded technologies. Experience with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB. Familiarity with embedded or flight software architectures and development processes. Ability to use standard electrical engineering test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, and experience testing PCB assemblies. Strong cross-functional communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance. Experience with wireless communications systems, computer networking, enhanced security measures, or AI-assisted software development is preferred. Familiarity with high-reliability aerospace designs, aircraft system architectures, redundant systems, and relevant standards such as DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461 is a plus. Experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex communications board designs is preferred.
