Senior Engineering Manager

Accountabilities:: Define and drive a technical roadmap aligned with product objectives, strategically prioritizing engineering investments and adopting relevant technologies and methodologies. Lead and develop a distributed engineering organization operating across multiple countries and time zones. Facilitate communication across engineering, product, design, and other teams while identifying dependencies and resolving coordination challenges. Develop engineers and engineering managers through coaching, mentoring, performance management, clear expectations, and continuous feedback. Maintain the team's technical capabilities by encouraging learning and keeping practices aligned with industry developments. Guide teams in designing scalable, secure, reliable, and observable systems that meet business and technical requirements. Promote experimentation and telemetry-driven development to support rapid iteration and data-informed decision-making. Drive engineering excellence through automation, tooling, and standardized approaches to deployment, testing, and operations. Establish and improve reliability practices, incident response processes, service-level objectives, and post-incident reviews. Ensure postmortems result in systemic improvements rather than isolated fixes. Support thoughtful system design and dependency management across complex engineering environments. Help teams deliver high-quality developer tooling and code analysis capabilities across supported programming languages and technical ecosystems. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish shared understanding of technical direction, priorities, decisions, and progress. Requirements: At least 6 years of experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline, with demonstrated experience maintaining and delivering production software. Alternatively, relevant post-secondary education combined with the required professional experience, including an associate-level qualification with 5+ years, bachelor's degree with 4+ years, master's degree with 2+ years, or a doctorate in a relevant technical field. Equivalent combinations of education and professional experience may also be considered. At least 1 year of people management or technical team management experience. Production software development experience with languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python . Experience building developer tools that work directly with source code, such as compilers, parsers, linters, static analyzers, debuggers, CLI tools, or IDE extensions, is highly valuable. Knowledge of software security, including static or dynamic analysis, software supply-chain security, and secure software development practices, is preferred. Experience applying machine learning or large language models to source-code understanding or structured data, including prompt engineering and systematic AI evaluation, is an asset. Experience working with and leading distributed teams across multiple time zones, including recruiting, retention, performance management, coaching, mentoring, and expectation setting. Strong ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and design organizations and create alignment around technical direction and priorities. Knowledge of compilers, program analysis, programming language design, or programming language implementation is beneficial. Familiarity with logic programming or database query languages such as SQL, Prolog, Datalog, or Kusto Query Language (KQL) is an advantage. Experience integrating with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins and operating user-facing software at scale. Strong understanding of availability, observability, security, reliability, and operational excellence fundamentals.
