Manager, Business Enterprise Systems

Accountabilities:: Build trusted relationships with leaders across Finance, HR, Legal, Customer Operations and Experience, Security, IT, and Data, becoming a strategic technical partner for business challenges. Translate operational needs and business pain points into clear technical requirements, challenging assumptions and proposing effective alternatives where appropriate. Remain hands-on by writing and reviewing production code, leading technical design for complex integrations, and solving ambiguous cross-system challenges. Establish and maintain the team's technical standards through architecture reviews, design decisions, code reviews, and technical guidance. Manage, coach, and develop a team of software developers through regular one-on-ones, goal setting, performance feedback, career planning, and promotion processes. Set clear expectations and provide timely, specific feedback while supporting team members' professional growth and long-term development. Own delivery of cross-functional initiatives, including scope definition, sequencing, dependencies, resources, risks, deadlines, and stakeholder communication. Maintain disciplined release and change-management practices across business-critical systems, including deployment cadence, environment strategy, rollback procedures, and audit-ready controls. Monitor team throughput, backlog health, delivery progress, and system risks, providing leadership with clear and reliable visibility. Allocate resources and shape technical roadmaps while balancing competing priorities and communicating trade-offs effectively. Drive process improvements and ensure business systems remain reliable, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with organizational needs. Identify opportunities to use AI tools to accelerate software development and automate business workflows. Collaborate across functions to improve integrations, data flows, and the overall effectiveness of enterprise technology systems. Requirements: 6+ years of application development experience, including at least 2 years managing a development team and leading successful delivery of custom software solutions. Strong working knowledge of at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, TypeScript, Ruby, or Python, with recent hands-on production development experience. Proven experience managing and developing software engineers through one-on-ones, performance reviews, feedback, goal setting, and career progression. Demonstrated ability to provide technical and process leadership throughout the software development lifecycle. Experience planning and delivering application initiatives such as implementations, migrations, upgrades, and configuration projects. Strong experience managing integrations and data flows across third-party software platforms. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and cloud environments including AWS, GCP, or comparable platforms. Experience with resource allocation and strategic roadmap development, including sequencing competing priorities and clearly defending technical and business trade-offs. Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at different organizational levels and collaborate effectively across functions. Strong cross-functional project leadership and process improvement skills. Experience applying AI-powered tools to improve software development productivity and automate business processes. Strong technical judgment combined with the ability to remain hands-on and current with modern engineering practices. Empathetic leadership style with the ability to understand team challenges while maintaining high standards and providing candid, timely feedback. Excellent communication, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills. Experience working with enterprise APIs and platforms such as Jira, Slack, Okta, Workato, or Google Workspace is an asset. Experience managing development teams in high-growth technology environments or regulated industries such as financial services is an asset.
