Engineering Curriculum Design Curator

Accountabilities:: Review existing engineering curriculum materials, activities, experiments, worksheets, presentations, and teacher resources to identify opportunities for improvement. Evaluate hands-on engineering challenges such as bridge-building experiments and solar-related activities, considering clarity, accessibility, engagement, and suitability for middle school students. Propose modifications, simplifications, alternative approaches, and new variations that make activities more effective and enjoyable for learners. Draft and update slides, worksheets, experiment instructions, teacher materials, and other curriculum resources based on identified improvements. Collaborate with the curriculum team through regular discussions and meetings to review proposed changes, gather feedback, and align materials with educational objectives. Test hands-on activities and experiment materials when appropriate, including reviewing or using equipment and supplies required for curriculum activities. Help keep engineering learning materials organized, current, practical, and engaging for educators and students. Respond to questions and communicate regularly with the team by email, contributing approximately six flexible hours per week to the program. Contribute ideas and professional expertise to help expand access to meaningful STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls. Requirements: Interest in STEM education, engineering, curriculum development, or organizing and improving educational materials. Background as an educator, engineer, retired professional, student, or other individual with relevant STEM or learning-design experience is welcome. Ability to review educational content critically and identify opportunities to improve clarity, simplicity, engagement, and effectiveness. Strong written communication skills, with the ability to develop clear slides, worksheets, teacher guides, activity instructions, and other learning materials. Creative and practical problem-solving skills, particularly when adapting hands-on activities for middle school learners. Ability to collaborate with a curriculum team, participate in discussions, receive feedback, and incorporate suggestions into revised materials. Comfortable working independently in a flexible, primarily remote environment and managing approximately six hours of contribution per week. Enthusiasm for supporting greater access to STEM education and creating learning experiences that encourage girls to explore engineering and related fields.
