Director, Engineering & Operations

Accountabilities:: Provide hands-on technical support across mining engineering activities, including rock mechanics and ground control, ventilation, mine planning, drilling, and blasting. Own the design, governance, and continuous improvement of the operating model, working with site and corporate teams to establish consistent planning, execution, feedback, and accountability processes. Partner with mine site leadership to develop annual budgets and life-of-mine plans aligned with strategic objectives. Provide professional mining guidance for annual mineral reserve updates and act as a Qualified Person when appropriate site expertise is unavailable. Promote knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices across mining operations. Coach and mentor engineering professionals, strengthening technical capabilities and promoting industry standards and continuous professional development. Support corporate development activities by providing mining engineering expertise for property evaluations, acquisitions, mergers, due diligence, and integration initiatives. Lead or support large-scale engineering initiatives, ensuring work is delivered safely, effectively, on schedule, and within budget. Strengthen technical governance and operational consistency across sites while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Travel regularly to mine sites to provide technical leadership, operational support, and collaboration with local teams. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering; postgraduate education is considered an asset. P.Eng. designation or equivalent professional engineering qualification and membership in a recognized professional organization. 10+ years of progressive mining engineering and operations leadership experience, with significant expertise in underground mining. Strong technical knowledge of rock mechanics and ground control, ventilation, mine planning, drilling, blasting, operational reporting, and continuous improvement. Demonstrated experience with annual budgeting, life-of-mine planning, mineral reserve updates, and technical governance across mining operations. Experience leading or supporting major engineering initiatives with accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and budget. Strong understanding of health, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements within the mining industry. Experience working with corporate teams on technical reviews, growth initiatives, due diligence, M&A, or integration activities is an asset. Strong strategic thinking combined with practical operational judgment and hands-on problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with the confidence to translate complex technical information into clear recommendations for senior leaders and operational teams. Proven leadership, coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing capabilities. Adaptability, accountability, and the ability to balance long-term technical priorities with day-to-day operational realities. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is considered an asset.
