Assistant Director, School of Health, Wellness & Human Services

Accountabilities:: Serve as a success navigator for an assigned cohort of students, providing consistent outreach, engagement, support, and proactive intervention through degree completion. Monitor student progress using success-tracking systems and related platforms, identifying early alerts and developing appropriate intervention plans. Meet regularly with students to develop, implement, and review individualized academic and success plans. Collaborate with faculty, organization advisors, support staff, families, and other members of students’ support networks to monitor academic progress, persistence, attendance, and engagement. Co-facilitate school-based enrollment, engagement, orientation, open house, convocation, advising, academic planning, recruiting, career, and transfer events. Develop and facilitate student-facing programming focused on holistic development, belonging, diversity, mutual respect, engagement, and retention. Participate in summer engagement activities for new and prospective students. Identify and coordinate referrals to academic, social, financial, and other support services that can help students overcome barriers to success. Connect students with tutoring, study groups, career preparation, transfer resources, and other available support services. Support career readiness through resume development, interview preparation, and career and transfer networking opportunities. Assist with program publications, communications, informational presentations, and outreach to parents or other appropriate support contacts. Provide information and feedback for reports, program assessments, and initiative development. Support post-award grant coordination for projects connected to student and school priorities. Support non-credit workforce education programs through information sessions, community outreach, onboarding, matriculation, and registration activities. Partner with community agencies to promote workforce education opportunities and connect prospective students with relevant programs. Coordinate workforce completion surveys and collect data to support grant requirements, curriculum development, and advisory board review. Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards. Requirements Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or recognized foreign equivalent, plus at least one year of relevant professional experience working with or mentoring college students; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Direct experience working with diverse student populations, including individuals who are educationally or economically disadvantaged. Familiarity with advising, success coaching, student navigation, and/or case management practices is preferred. Experience with program or curricular design and program evaluation is an advantage. Strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by students from underserved or disadvantaged backgrounds. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners. Knowledge of career and transfer services and related student support practices. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and competing needs efficiently. Ability to use assessment and data to guide program and initiative development. Professional judgment and discretion when handling confidential student information. Demonstrated initiative, creativity, collaboration, adaptability, and commitment to continuous professional development. Ability to embrace change, take ownership of new projects, and work effectively in a student-centered environment. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred; English combined with other languages may also be considered. Availability for limited evening and weekend commitments.
