Accounting Team Lead

Accountabilities: Manage the accrual accounting activities associated with key business operations, including loan-related income and expenses, in accordance with US GAAP. Prepare FAS 91 working papers for deferred income and expense accounting. Reconcile loan collections with bank activity and record the corresponding accounting entries. Calculate and account for asset resolution gains and losses. Account for interest income and interest expense. Account for prepaid expenses, loan suspense adjustments, and other loan-related income and expenses. Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations. Lead and supervise a team of two Accounting Analysts, reviewing their work and ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Support the monthly and annual financial reporting processes and help meet the 10-business-day closing deadline. Determine and document appropriate accounting treatments for new transactions and business events. Post loan activity, including collections, debt payments, and interest payments. Perform weekly reviews of accounting analysts' work and prepare weekly asset resolution gain/loss calculations. Maintain strong accounting controls, accuracy, accountability, and consistency across the team. Requirements Bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualification in Accounting, or an equivalent accounting qualification such as Intermediate Chartered Accountancy (Inter-CA). 5–10 years of professional accounting experience. Strong practical knowledge and experience applying US GAAP. Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, accrual accounting, and accounting close processes. Previous experience leading or supervising accounting professionals. Strong understanding of loan-related accounting and financial transactions is highly relevant. Experience in banking, real estate, or US-based service businesses is preferred. Proficiency with Sage 300 and LAPRO. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Power BI and accounting ERP systems. Strong financial reporting and analytical capabilities. Clear, timely, and professional written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership, accountability, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accounting accuracy. Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and manage priorities effectively. Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
