Senior Software Engineer - Core Platform (Ruby/Rails)

Location: Remote US

Compensation Range: $160,000– $190,000 base plus bonus and equity

What you’ll do:

Huntress is looking for an impact-oriented Senior Software Engineer with excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and team-building skills. You will be a primary engine for your team, responsible for end-to-end feature delivery: designing, developing, testing, and releasing robust software for the Huntress Core Platform.

Our Core Platform contains the foundational components that power the entire Huntress product suite, including the notification system, onboarding and activation, authentication, end-to-end user experience, and APIs. As a Senior Engineer, you will own complex projects from start to finish, holding a high bar for code quality and maintainability. Your hands-on contributions and ability to break down complex work will help us scale the large-scale systems that protect the 99%.

Responsibilities:

• Own and drive projects from start to finish – engineering design, coding, testing, and rollout
• Work efficiently across all levels of the stack (frontend, backend, database, infrastructure) to deliver functional, secure, and scalable solutions
• Break down complex work into actionable milestones and stories for the team to execute
• Hold a high bar for yourself and the team regarding code quality, scalability, and maintainability through automated testing, code reviews, and pairing
• Propose team-level technical solutions and actively engage and contribute to new innovations
• Mentor, coach, and provide actionable feedback to help up-level your team

What you bring to the team:

• 8+ years of experience developing complex, scalable software products.
• 5+ years of expertise in Ruby on Rails, with a focus on writing maintainable, efficient code.
• Demonstrated proficiency in full-stack development, including JavaScript, CSS, and modern Rails frontend frameworks (Stimulus, Turbo, Hotwire)
• Strong background in Linux-based infrastructure, databases (i.e., Postgres, Clickhouse, etc), and integrating with external APIs.
• Demonstrated ability to take defined epics and break them down into actionable milestones and stories
• Collaborative mindset with experience working in Agile environments, pairing and mentoring others.
• A proactive approach to AI-assisted development, with the ability to use these tools responsibly to increase your own velocity and code quality
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent professional experience.

Helpful experience, but not required

• Experience with AWS Cloud Environments
• Experience working in a Ruby on Rails monolith
• A passion for building platform capabilities
• Eagerness to work in Tailwind UI
