Lead/Staff Business Analyst

Role overview:

Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation) is seeking a Lead/Staff Business Analyst to help shape the future of our Direct-to-Consumer businesses - PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct.  

You will lead business analysis for cross-domain commercial initiatives, working with senior leaders and subject-matter experts to understand business objectives, processes and customer needs. You will be accountable for translating these needs into clear, testable business requirements that Product, Engineering, Analytics and Data Science teams use to design and build new ecommerce products and supporting tools. Throughout development, you will maintain alignment between business stakeholders and delivery teams, ensuring the resulting solutions fulfil the underlying business need.

What you'll be doing: 

• Translating complex business needs into clear, structured, and testable business requirements that Product and Engineering can execute against. Remain engaged through design and development, resolving ambiguity and ultimately validating that the solution meets the original business need. 
• Frame cross-functional business problems, align senior decision-makers with competing priorities and translate agreed objectives into clear business requirements, decision frameworks and measurable outcomes. 
• Establish and coordinate effective collaboration across Business, Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, and Finance teams to resolve shared challenges and ensure business needs are fulfilled. 
• Evaluate strategic trade-offs, dependencies and wider consequences across customer journeys, commercial models, markets and operational capabilities. 
• Redesign cross-functional business processes and operating models, identifying opportunities to create scalable tooling, automation and reusable capabilities. 
• Partner with Product, Analytics and Data Science to test commercial hypotheses to build the case for change. 
• Influence executive decisions through structured problem framing, commercial reasoning and clear, data-informed recommendations. 
• Apply your experience and expertise to strengthen the team’s business analysis capabilities, developing effective practices, methods and standards that improve the quality and consistency of our work. 

What we’re looking for: 

• Extensive experience in Business Analysis within digital commerce, subscriptions or retail businesses or related fields. 
• Demonstrated experience leading business analysis for complex, global initiatives spanning multiple business domains, capabilities or markets. 
• Demonstrated experience partnering with product, engineering, analytics and data science teams to design and deliver commerce and tooling solutions that meet the needs of business teams. 
• Broad understanding of eCommerce customer journeys, commercial drivers and operational processes, with the ability to identify dependencies and evaluate cross-domain consequences. 
• Proven ability to align senior business leaders and cross-functional teams where objectives or priorities differ, information is incomplete and deadlines are tight. 
• Demonstrated experience mapping and redesigning complex business processes or operating models, building a compelling case for change and working across teams to implement and embed new ways of working. 
• Executive-level communication and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and support recommendations with commercial reasoning and evidence. 
• Experience providing functional leadership, mentoring experienced practitioners and raising business-analysis capability across an organisation. 
• Comfortable operating across regions, time zones and cultures, with flexibility for international travel and varied working hours. 
• Resilient and adaptable in ambiguous, fast-moving environments. 

Desirable: 

• Knowledge of payments, finance, and supply chains. 
• Experience integrating AI/ML into business solutions. 
• Familiarity with digital content management and publishing. 
• Awareness of governance and ethics in AI and data practices. 
• Experience working in multicultural, international environments.
