Senior Software Engineer - Java-Oracle

Design, develop, support, and monitor Java-based applications and integration solutions that process business transactions and support critical operational workflows. Build and maintain Java services, APIs, and Kafka-based messaging integrations to enable reliable data exchange between systems. Oracle database experience, including Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, is a nice-to-have. Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements, analyze processes, and translate needs into practical technical solutions. Develop, test, debug, document, and implement new functionality and enhancements to existing applications and integrations. Monitor application and integration performance, investigate alerts, message-processing failures, and production issues, and support incident resolution. Contribute to quality assurance, automated and functional testing, code quality, system reliability, and continuous improvement. Monitor application, API, and Kafka and/or MQ integration performance. Investigate alerts, failed messages, processing delays, and production issues; support incident resolution; and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Contribute to automated and functional testing, code reviews, deployment readiness, and continuous improvement. Work independently on complex assignments with minimal guidance. Apply sound technical judgment and development best practices, collaborate across teams, and serve as a resource to less-experienced colleagues. May lead small projects or technical workstreams with manageable scope, risk, and resource requirements. Required Qualifications Strong hands-on experience developing and supporting Java-based applications. Experience building and maintaining Java services, APIs, and system-to-system integrations. Experience with Kafka and/or MQ, or comparable enterprise messaging platforms, including producing and consuming messages, troubleshooting message-processing failures, and supporting reliable data flow between systems. Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, debugging, documentation, deployment, and post-production support. Experience monitoring application and integration performance; investigating alerts, failures, and production incidents; and supporting issue resolution. Ability to analyze existing application logic and business processes and develop effective technical solutions. Experience working in an Agile development environment. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and solve complex technical problems. Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to business and technology partners. Preferred Qualifications Oracle database experience, including Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. Experience integrating Java applications with Oracle databases. Experience improving application or integration performance, reliability, and operational monitoring. Experience leading small development projects, technical workstreams, or mentoring less-experienced developers. Compensation Salary Range: CAD $98,000- $120,000 .
