North America Employee Relations Consultant – Vice President

As an Employee Relations Consultant (“ERC”) on the North America ER team, you will be responsible for advising on the full range of ER issues for your assigned business units. You will provide client-focused coaching and consulting on performance and attendance issues as well as serious conduct cases while applying your knowledge of applicable employment laws and State Street’s policies and practices. You will advise on appropriate protocols for employee relations issues and investigations, use data and case insights to support sound decisions, and develop appropriate investigation documentation and clear, risk-aware recommendations for management. The role requires ethical judgment, adaptability, technology fluency, and a consulting mindset to improve ER outcomes and ways of working. Key Responsibilities Investigate and resolve potential conduct violations of the policies owned by Global Human Resources (GHR), applying ethical judgment, appropriate human oversight, and a strong risk mindset. Investigate and resolve employee grievances, performance, attendance, and escalated leave and accommodation matters, providing strategic, service-oriented consulting to HRBP partners, business leaders, and employees and adapting advice to evolving business and employee needs. Coordinate support and gather input from country-specific ER Consultants, Legal, Compliance, Security, Technology and other subject matter experts as appropriate, using strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration to shape practical solutions. Prepare case materials for the Conduct Standards Working Group and Committee , synthesizing relevant facts, data, risk considerations, and recommended outcomes for effective decision-making. Draft counseling and warning memoranda and other sanction notices, deliver such notices to employees, and counsel managers of sanctioned employees in accordance with local requirements. Counsel managers with respect to employee warnings, performance improvement plans, and other documentation, strengthening manager capability through trusted-advisor consulting and change management. Maintain systems and operations in accordance with corporate standards and controls and in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements; use approved digital and AI-enabled tools; and identify opportunities to streamline ER workflows and improve service delivery. Minimum Qualifications 8+ years of relevant experience in the Employee Relations field and a BS or BA degree Strong influencing, stakeholder management, and consulting skills and ability to independently exercise sound, judgment and provide strategic, risk-aware advice . Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment and manage a high volume of work with resilience, flexibility, and adaptability. Comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization , including senior-level executives, and translating complex issues into clear, client-focused recommendations. Must be a self-starter who demonstrates strategic and analytical thinking, challenges established approaches constructively, and identifies opportunities for technology-enabled workflow improvement. Comfortable making difficult decisions and articulating the rationale behind those decisions, including how legal requirements, risk considerations, and human judgment informed the outcome.; Demonstrated technology and data fluency, with a willingness to learn and apply approved AI-enabled tools responsibly. Salary Range: $110,000 - $188,750 Annual The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
