About the role As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, efficient software systems aligned with FIS technology objectives. You will guide software architecture, cloud computing activities, application reliability, and continuous improvement while partnering with cross-functional teams and application users. You will also manage a small to mid-sized technical team, direct short-term strategy execution, and help deliver significant projects within defined budgets. Current and future sponsorship are not available for this position Jacksonville, FL Hybrid (three days in-office, two days virtual) About the team Our team is composed of talented Software Developers & Quality Engineers who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality software solutions that support key banking and financial operations. We focus on building scalable, secure, and efficient systems that meet the evolving needs of our clients and internal stakeholders. What you will be doing You will lead a small to mid-sized team of experienced and entry-level technical professionals who design, build, support, and improve software applications. The team collaborates across functions to translate user needs into resilient and adaptable solutions. As the Manager, Software Engineering, you will set priorities, review work, reinforce policies and standards, and help the team deliver measurable operational improvements. Improve operational efficiency, reliability, and delivery outcomes by optimizing development processes, procedures, and tools across the software development life cycle. Partner with users and cross-functional teams to assess business needs, gather feedback, and incorporate actionable improvements into software solutions. Manage and develop a small to mid-sized software engineering team, allocate resources, review work, and ensure policies, practices, and procedures are followed. Guide software architecture and cloud computing activities, including design, planning, management, maintenance, and support. Lead the development and timely delivery of scalable, efficient software systems and applications aligned with organizational technology objectives. What you will need Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to translate user and business needs into effective software solutions. Ability to develop operational plans, allocate resources, influence stakeholders, and manage significant projects or processes within defined budgets. Strong knowledge of the software development life cycle, code quality practices, coding standards, application reliability, and continuous improvement. Experience designing and delivering scalable software systems, applications, or architectures that support growing workloads. Experience managing technical professionals and leading software development work with a high degree of team independence. Added bonus if you have Experience with Cloud and AI technologies, including cloud-native architectures, generative AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, or leveraging AI-driven solutions to improve operational efficiency, resiliency, and customer experience. Knowledge of domestic and international payment processing, including Wire Transfers, Fedwire, SWIFT messaging, ISO 20022 standards, payment operations, settlement processes, and banking transaction lifecycles.
