Software Development Engineer 2 (Platform & Infrastructure)

As we expand into adjacent verticals, our goal is to achieve 10X growth over the next three years. **Role Overview** As a Software Development Engineer 2 (Platform & Infrastructure), you will own platform components end-to-end—from architecture and implementation to production rollout, monitoring, and operational excellence. You'll work on building and scaling the infrastructure that powers Dentira's products across multiple regions while ensuring reliability, security, observability, and cost efficiency. You will be expected to independently design medium-complexity systems, evaluate engineering trade-offs, and deliver production-ready solutions with minimal guidance. **Primary Responsibilities** * Platform Engineering & Infrastructure * Design, build, and maintain scalable platform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). * Develop and operate multi-region cloud infrastructure on AWS. * Build, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters and application deployments. * Own application delivery pipelines and deployment automation. * Improve platform observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerting. * Strengthen platform security, compliance, and cloud cost optimization. **System Design & Technical Ownership** * Design medium-complexity distributed systems considering: * Failure scenarios * Rollback strategies * Migration planning * Scalability * Operational impact * Perform technical trade-off analysis before implementation. * Contribute across platform, backend, and infrastructure layers when required. **Delivery & Execution** **Own projects end-to-end including:** * Design * Development * Testing * Deployment * Rollout across multiple regions * Monitoring * Documentation * Break ambiguous requirements into well-defined engineering tasks. * Deliver production-ready software with dashboards, alerts, monitoring, runbooks, and rollback plans. * Maintain high engineering quality and minimize production incidents. **Collaboration & Leadership** * Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance. * Improve engineering standards, tooling, and development processes. * Identify technical debt and proactively drive improvements. * Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and engineering teams to understand business requirements and deliver scalable solutions. * Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * AI-Augmented Engineering * Leverage AI coding assistants to improve engineering productivity. * Validate AI-generated code before production use. * Build features using AI/ML APIs such as: * LLMs * Embeddings * Classification models * Implement proper monitoring, fallbacks, error handling, caching, and cost optimization for AI-powered systems. * Follow responsible AI practices including privacy, guardrails, and ethical considerations. **Required Skills & Qualifications **Experience** 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong experience working on platform engineering, backend systems, or cloud infrastructure. **Technical Skills** **Infrastructure & Cloud** * Production experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code. * Strong understanding of AWS cloud services. * Experience managing production Kubernetes environments including: * Scheduling * Resource management * Autoscaling * Ingress * Persistent storage * Secrets management * Troubleshooting production workloads * Hands-on experience creating and maintaining Helm charts. **Programming** * Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: * Node.js / TypeScript * Python * Go **DevOps** * CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance. * Build and deployment automation. * Container image and artifact management. **Observability** * Experience with metrics, logs, and distributed tracing. * Ability to instrument applications and troubleshoot production issues using observability tools. **Systems** * Strong Linux fundamentals. * Networking fundamentals including HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and troubleshooting. **Communication** * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to independently design and document technical solutions. * Good to Have * OpenTelemetry * Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager * Karpenter or Cluster Autoscaler * Kafka, Amazon MSK, Temporal, or other distributed messaging/workflow platforms * Experience working in regulated environments and compliance frameworks * Cloud cost optimization with measurable business impact * Experience operating multi-region, globally distributed platforms * Exposure to healthcare or SaaS platforms **Note** Interviews will be conducted offline (face-to-face) at our Bangalore office located in Garudacharpalya.
