Senior Software Engineer/Architect (India)

Embark is investing in the next generation of our platform, including AI-powered features for applicants and admissions teams. **The Role** We're looking for a software engineer to help build the next iteration of our admissions platform. You'll be a hands-on individual contributor who also mentors other engineers and shapes technical direction. You'll work in a small, collaborative team where your decisions have a visible impact on the product and on the institutions and students who use it. **What you’ll do** * Design and build features across our full stack: Angular front end, Node.js/Express services, and MongoDB * Build performant, well-designed APIs and data models * Integrate LLM-based capabilities into the product, such as applicant assistance and document analysis, with attention to reliability, cost, and data privacy * Improve our AWS infrastructure, deployment, and observability * Strengthen quality through code review, automated testing, and CI/CD * Mentor engineers and help set engineering standards and practices * Work with implementation and support colleagues to understand client needs and fix root causes **What we’re looking for** * 5+ years of professional software engineering experience * Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, with production experience in Node.js, Express, Angular, and MongoDB * Experience with AWS (S3, EC2) and Linux environments * Solid understanding of system design, API design, and performance * Experience with Git-based workflows and agile teams * Practical use of AI coding tools, and the judgment to review AI-generated code as carefully as your own * A track record of mentoring or leading others * Clear written and spoken English for working with our New York team **Nice to have** Experience building features on LLM APIs (prompt design, structured outputs, evaluation) Background in edtech or multi-tenant SaaS
