Technical Implementation Associate & Engineer (Asia - US Hours)

**About Embark** Since 1995, Embark has been a leading provider of online application and admissions software to colleges, universities, and fellowship programs around the world. We've powered more than 17 million applications for clients including Harvard, Stanford, NYU, and the Rhodes Scholarships. Embark is investing in the next generation of our platform, including AI-powered features for applicants and admissions teams. **The Role** This is a hybrid technical role that sits between our clients, their applicants, and our engineering team. You'll configure and build application workflows for universities and fellowship programs, and you'll also write code to build the software that enables them to create those workflows. You'll also be the voice of Embark for clients. We're looking for someone with a computer science background who enjoys coding and wants to grow their technical skills, and who can also explain things clearly to non-technical people. The balance of activities can vary during the application season, but a rough daily balance could be approximate: * About 3 hours of client and applicant support by email and chat. You'll diagnose issues, explain solutions clearly, and advise clients on how to configure the platform to improve their processes. * About 3 hours on technical configuration and coding. You'll build and modify application forms, logic, and workflows in JSON and JavaScript, and contribute to smaller development tasks alongside our engineers. * About 1 hour on testing and QA. You'll verify releases and fixes, including issues surfaced through support, and help maintain our automated test coverage. * About 1 hour of project work. This could be AI feature configuration, internal tooling, process improvement, or other initiatives based on your interests. Ideally, the candidate would be online from 9 AM EST - 6 PM EST but, for the right candidate, we would consider a shorter amount of overlap with the US-based team (e.g. working 5 AM EST - 2 PM EST). **What we’re looking for ** * A degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable programming experience * Working knowledge of JavaScript and JSON; familiarity with HTML/CSS, SQL or MongoDB, or Git is a plus * Genuine interest in coding and in growing as a developer * Excellent written and spoken English. You'll be writing to university administrators and applicants across the globe, so clarity, tone, and professionalism matter a great deal to us * Strong attention to detail and a habit of thinking one step ahead * The ability to manage several tasks at once and see them through independently * An interest in education technology **Hours and location** Fully remote. Ideally you'll work 9 AM–6 PM US Eastern Time; for the right candidate we'll consider a shorter overlap (e.g. 5 AM–2 PM ET).
