Principal Software Engineer

We work directly with healthcare organizations to solve operational problems across the patient and practice lifecycle, combining software, automation, AI, and technology-enabled services. **About the Role** Beam Health is looking for a strong **Principal Software Engineer** to build and scale products used in real healthcare workflows. You’ll work across our platform, shipping new features, improving existing systems, integrating with external healthcare technology, and solving operational problems directly with the product and business teams. We’re looking for someone who is technically strong and knows how to use modern AI development tools effectively. You should be comfortable using AI to accelerate implementation, debugging, research, and iteration while still understanding the code you ship and making sound technical decisions. Healthcare experience is a plus, but not required. **What You’ll Do** * Design, build, and ship production features across Beam’s platform * Work across frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, and infrastructure as needed * Build reliable integrations with external systems and third-party services * Use AI-assisted development tools to move quickly without compromising code quality * Debug complex technical and workflow issues across the stack * Work directly with product, operations, and customer-facing teams to translate real-world needs into software * Make pragmatic architectural and technical decisions as the platform grows * Improve engineering quality, tooling, testing, and development workflows * Take ownership of projects from initial requirements through production deployment and iteration **What You Have** * Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping production applications * Proficiency across modern web application development * Ability to independently work through complex technical problems * Strong understanding of APIs, databases, application architecture, and distributed systems * Experience using AI coding tools effectively as part of your development workflow * Ability to evaluate AI-generated code rather than treating it as a substitute for engineering judgment * Strong debugging and problem-solving skills * Comfortable working across different parts of the stack when needed * Ability to operate with ownership in a fast-moving environment * Strong written and verbal communication **Especially Valuable** * Experience building healthcare technology * Familiarity with healthcare integrations, interoperability, or clinical workflows * Experience with AI/LLM-powered products or workflows * Experience working with complex third-party APIs and integrations * Experience at an early-stage or rapidly growing technology company * Experience working at a big 4 management consulting firm (i.e. McKinsey, Bain, BCG, etc) **Location** NYC/Remote **Compensation & Benefits** $200-250k per year * Health insurance * Paid time off * Equity Full-time W-2 position.
