Principal Engineer - Flood Risk Modelling

As Principal Engineer (Flood Risk Modelling) within our SWM Consulting (GCC) team, you will take responsibility to provide technical support, resource & financial management, mentoring and independently deliver flood modelling projects to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery for internal and external clients. The role requirement includes leading projects based on hydraulic modelling and flood risk based studies using industry standard software (Flood Modeller Pro, Tuflow, Estry, HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM 2D) as well as other projects requiring detailed technical analysis and providing support to junior colleagues. You will be expected to have a strong background/working knowledge on 1d-2d hydraulic modelling, hydrological modelling, major flood alleviation schemes, highway infrastructure projects and GIS based analytical tools with a thorough understanding of the UK Water industry and legislation. Masters Degree in Water Resources Engineering or equivalent. Strong prior experience on flood risk management based projects, hydraulic modelling, hydrology and preferably with exposure to UK policy, standards, specifications and software tools used in the UK Water Industry. A Minimum of 10+ years industry experience and UK market experience is required. Demonstrated experience of multiple domains/skillsets within flood risk management sector and UK Water Industry. 1d-2d Hydraulic Modelling Hydrological Modelling Flood Risk Assessment Detailed Technical Reviews and QA Option Appraisal Studies, Flood Alleviation Schemes, Surface Water Management Hydraulic Design GIS based desk-studies Detailed Project/Modelling Reporting Project Management Mentoring and Training Ability Ability to support Bids & Fee Proposals Strong experience in multiple UK modelling software (Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, Estry, Infoworks ICM, MIKE, HEC-RAS 1d-2d, QGIS, ArcGIS) Excellent written and verbal communication skills and MS Office and/or PowerBI Ability to independently lead/resolve issues on technical matters, strong background in collaborating with other design disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
