We're looking for a Data Engineer to join our Norwich-based team and play a key role in delivering customer-facing data solutions. This is an opportunity to work directly with valuable insurance datasets, lead proof-of-concept initiatives, and help shape the way data is delivered, automated, and scaled across the business. The role will work closely with both groups, supporting underwriting databases, sharing knowledge, and contributing to broader data engineering initiatives. While you'll take primary ownership of proof-of-concept activities, you'll also have the opportunity to learn other areas of the team's work, contributing to a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and cross-training are encouraged. #LI-SD2 #LI-Hybrid We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with curiosity, initiative, and excellent communication skills. You'll be comfortable working independently, solving problems, and explaining technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge. Strong SQL skills with experience querying and manipulating large datasets Strong Python experience in a data engineering environment Experience building, maintaining, or optimizing data pipelines and data processes Experience working with AWS data engineering technologies Understanding of data quality, validation, and governance practices Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and confidently Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders A proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements Ability to manage priorities and deliver work in a fast-paced environment Preferred skills Experience with AWS Glue Experience deploying Python-based data engineering workloads into production environments Experience automating data workflows using cloud-native services Understanding of batch processing, scheduling, and scalable data solutions Experience within insurance, financial services, or another data-intensive industry What success looks like In this role, success is not simply about delivering data.
