Assistant Technician, Laboratory

As a Lab Technician, you will help deliver accurate, high‑quality laboratory work that supports environmental, materials, and infrastructure projects across the region. You will be part of a team that values precision, safety, and innovation while helping shape healthier, more resilient communities. Your Impact In this role, you will: Perform routine laboratory testing on soils, aggregates, and concrete in accordance with standard methods and specifications. Prepare, label, log, and manage samples to maintain accurate tracking and traceability. Operate standard materials laboratory equipment, including balances, ovens, and microscopes Accurately record observations and test results in laboratory logs, templates, and digital systems. Follow health, safety, and quality procedures to maintain a safe and organized laboratory environment. Support senior technicians, technologists, and professional staff by assisting with test setup, equipment cleaning, and general lab organization. The Skills That Set You Apart Post-secondary technical diploma/degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Earth Sciences, or a related field. Exposure to construction materials testing through academic labs, co‑op terms, internships, or entry‑level roles. Familiarity with basic laboratory practices and materials testing equipment used for soils, aggregates, and concrete. Ability to work in a laboratory environment with repetitive testing procedures and attention to detail. Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs as part of routine laboratory duties. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork, with an interest in building technical skills in construction materials testing.. Why Choose WSP?
