Staff System Engineer, Integration & Verification

Accountabilities:: Develop Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Cases for the integration and verification of mission autonomy subsystems with the broader autonomous flight system. Produce detailed Test Reports and Problem Reports documenting verification results, findings, failures, and corrective actions. Establish and maintain traceability between system and subsystem requirements, test cases, and test procedures. Ensure test planning and verification deliverables are completed in alignment with program schedules and are ready to support each phase of system development. Assess test strategies and evaluate whether available test facilities, equipment, and capabilities adequately support planned subsystem verification activities. Review system and subsystem requirements from a testability perspective, identifying gaps, ambiguities, or inconsistencies and providing actionable feedback. Ensure test facilities are appropriately configured and compliant for formal integration and verification activities. Support the integration and verification of flight autonomy subsystems on the air vehicle platform. Contribute to systems engineering development plans, processes, and technical execution activities as needed. Coordinate systems engineering tasks across disciplines and help ensure technical deliverables are completed successfully and on schedule. Develop subsystem feature and function descriptions, subsystem-level requirements, test methods, and testing strategies. Support verification and validation activities, including change control and impact analysis for test cases and procedures. Review systems engineering artifacts, concepts of operation, system architectures, interfaces, and requirements with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and regulatory stakeholders as appropriate. Collaborate with safety, hardware, and software engineering teams to capture, document, validate, and communicate requirements and interfaces. Support the development of autonomous behaviors and functions for AI-enabled control systems while maintaining safety and verification considerations throughout the development lifecycle. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred. 6–9 years of experience conducting systems engineering and integration and verification activities. Demonstrated experience integrating and testing flight control systems, ideally involving machine learning, autonomy, or advanced automated control capabilities. Strong experience developing integration and verification strategies, test plans, test procedures, and test cases for complex systems or subsystems. Experience troubleshooting integration and verification issues, identifying root causes, and driving appropriate resolution. Experience with requirements management tools, processes, traceability, and requirements validation and verification. Ability to develop and validate requirements for test facilities, system architecture, interfaces, and verification activities. Experience collaborating effectively across multiple engineering disciplines, including software, hardware, safety, systems, and related technical teams. Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and the ability to work across architecture, requirements, interfaces, testing, and verification activities. Experience working on experimental R&D or new product development involving safety-critical systems and the ability to maintain rigorous safety standards while operating in a fast-moving environment. Experience supporting FAA, EASA, or Department of Defense certification programs is preferred. Hands-on experience with avionics integration and verification using standards such as ARP4754A and RTCA DO-178B/C is highly desirable. Experience with automatic flight controls, flight management systems, display systems, software requirements, or software verification is a plus. Familiarity with FAA, EASA, or Department of Defense regulations and standards is beneficial. Working knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a plus. Familiarity with tools such as Simulink, Cameo, IADS, or Jama is desirable. Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. Ability to work independently, take ownership of significant technical areas, and collaborate effectively in a small, agile engineering environment. Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship; visa sponsorship and transfers are not available for this position.
