Staff Software Engineer (Full-Stack)

Accountabilities:: Set technical direction and drive key engineering decisions that influence multiple teams across the organization. Identify and address reliability, performance, and scalability challenges proactively at a systems level. Build and iterate on customer-facing product features using Ruby on Rails, React, and TypeScript. Work across the technology stack, including backend APIs, data modeling, relational databases, and polished frontend experiences. Partner with engineering leads to align technical direction and architectural approaches across teams. Establish and promote engineering patterns, conventions, and standards that improve code quality and maintainability. Help reduce technical debt through practical solutions that support business objectives and remove engineering blockers. Bring clarity to ambiguous, cross-team technical challenges and help teams make confident decisions. Mentor senior engineers through pairing, code reviews, design discussions, and ongoing technical guidance. Collaborate with engineering managers on technical planning, scoping, and overall team health. Requirements: 12+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, with strong backend fundamentals and broad technical expertise. Previous experience operating at Staff, Principal, Architect, or equivalent senior technical level. Production experience with Ruby on Rails or a comparable backend framework. Strong working knowledge of React and TypeScript for frontend development. Experience working with relational databases at scale, including MySQL, Spanner, or similar technologies. Proven ability to lead technical decisions across multiple teams by building relationships, creating alignment, and influencing without direct authority. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. High standards for code quality, maintainability, and engineering practices, with a mindset of continuously improving existing systems. Strong technical judgment, ownership, collaboration, and ability to navigate ambiguous problems. Experience in FinTech, financial services, or products with complex compliance requirements is a plus.
