Software Engineering Manager

Accountabilities:: Spend at least one-third of your time coding , contributing directly to new product development and maintaining strong technical involvement. Partner with the CTO to help manage and scale the engineering team , processes, and technical best practices as the organization grows. Support engineers through regular one-to-one meetings , providing guidance, feedback, mentorship, and help removing technical or operational blockers. Help develop and manage the engineering hiring pipeline , including participating in technical interviews and evaluating potential candidates. Conduct code reviews and help engineers deliver new features quickly, reliably, and to a high standard . Foster effective collaboration and communication within a globally distributed and predominantly asynchronous engineering environment. Participate in projects throughout the full development lifecycle, from research and requirements gathering to planning, implementation, deployment, and monitoring. Help establish and continuously improve engineering practices that support product quality, development velocity, and team effectiveness. Communicate technical decisions, designs, priorities, and potential solutions clearly to engineers and other stakeholders. Work closely with leadership and engineering colleagues to identify opportunities for improving both the product and development organization. Requirements: At least 1 year of experience as an Engineering Manager , ideally within a startup and remote engineering environment. Demonstrated ability to combine hands-on software development with people and engineering management responsibilities. Experience working effectively with distributed teams in a remote environment. Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, from research and planning through implementation, release, and monitoring. Experience conducting or contributing to code reviews, technical discussions, and engineering quality practices . Experience supporting engineers through mentorship, regular one-to-ones, feedback, and technical or delivery guidance. Familiarity with technical hiring processes and conducting or participating in technical interviews . Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate ideas, designs, priorities, and potential solutions in a mostly asynchronous environment. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance coding, leadership, communication, and team responsibilities. Fluency in written English is required ; strong spoken English is also advantageous. Ability to participate in recurring team meetings on Mondays and Fridays at 2:30 PM GMT . Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities can evolve and the engineering organization is continuing to scale. Compensation may vary based on role level, location, market data, relevant skills, education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
