Principal Software Engineer (React)

Accountabilities:: Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and long-term roadmap for frontend systems across the platform. Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance web applications serving millions of users. Conduct architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical deep dives while maintaining high engineering standards. Own critical production systems and drive operational excellence across observability, security, performance, and reliability. Mentor senior engineers and help raise the engineering bar through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing. Partner with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and senior leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives. Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve developer productivity, product quality, and engineering workflows. Champion frontend best practices covering performance optimization, accessibility, design systems, and reusable component architecture. Lead cross-team initiatives to reduce technical debt, improve CI/CD pipelines, and strengthen code quality standards. Contribute to hiring, onboarding, technical standards, cross-functional planning, sprint reviews, and senior stakeholder discussions. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 12+ years of hands-on frontend or full-stack development experience, including at least 2 years in a Principal, Staff, or equivalent technical leadership position. Expert-level proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with deep expertise in React, including Hooks, Context API, component lifecycle, state management, routing, Server Components, and reusable component architecture. Strong experience with state management and data-fetching technologies such as Zustand, TanStack Query, and TanStack Router. Hands-on experience designing and maintaining frontend build systems using tools such as Webpack, Vite, Turborepo, or similar technologies. Deep knowledge of mobile-first development, cross-browser compatibility, REST APIs, GraphQL, and asynchronous programming patterns. Extensive experience with testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent tools, integrated into CI/CD workflows. Strong understanding of web performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals and Lighthouse, as well as accessibility standards such as WCAG and modern observability practices. Proven ability to lead large-scale technical initiatives from inception through delivery while balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term technical health. Experience with Git workflows, branching strategies, code reviews, CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions, and Agile/Scrum practices. Familiarity with micro-frontend architectures, Module Federation, and design systems; exposure to Node.js, Python, or OCI is a strong plus. Experience evaluating and using AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar solutions. Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business audiences. Strong ownership, accountability, judgment, adaptability, and a bias toward action in ambiguous environments. Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers across multiple levels of seniority, combined with a passion for building intuitive digital experiences at scale.
