Payroll Transformation Specialist

Accountabilities:: Support payroll integration activities for newly acquired businesses, helping coordinate implementations, payroll provider transitions, testing, and go-live activities. Collect, validate, reconcile, and review employee and payroll data to ensure accuracy and completeness across payroll processes. Support payroll activities related to new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, taxes, and one-time payments. Investigate and help resolve payroll issues accurately and within required timelines, escalating employee-impacting or compliance-related risks when appropriate. Maintain payroll calendars, checklists, approval workflows, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation. Support payroll tax registrations, tax notices, statutory reporting, and year-end payroll activities. Reconcile payroll deductions against benefits and HR system records and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve discrepancies. Partner with Finance, HR, portfolio leadership, employers of record, and local payroll providers to ensure smooth and reliable payroll operations. Document payroll processes and develop standardized procedures, templates, controls, and other operational resources. Support payroll system configuration, testing, data cleanup, reporting, and implementation activities. Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate manual payroll processes while accounting for local requirements. Track implementation milestones, deadlines, risks, open questions, and outstanding decisions to keep payroll initiatives moving forward. Contribute to a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, candid communication, collaboration, and practical problem-solving. Requirements: 2–5 years of experience in payroll administration, payroll implementation, HR operations, accounting support, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline. Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, with the ability to work confidently with payroll and employee data. Experience supporting acquisitions, payroll conversions, implementations, or a global workforce is preferred. Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to investigate discrepancies methodically. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain findings and coordinate with multiple stakeholders. Comfort working across multiple companies, countries, currencies, and time zones. Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential employee and payroll information. Practical, responsive, service-minded approach with a strong sense of ownership and willingness to take initiative. Curiosity and adaptability, with the ability to learn unfamiliar payroll systems, country-specific requirements, and processes independently. Exposure to payroll operations in Brazil, Portugal, Canada, the United Kingdom, or the United States is helpful but not required. Experience with payroll or HR platforms such as Deel, Rippling, Multiplier, Paylocity, Paychex, TriNet, or similar systems is a plus. Payroll certification or relevant coursework is an advantage.
