Integrated (Migration and Modernization) Architect

Accountabilities:: Lead large-scale application portfolio discovery and assessment engagements covering hundreds to thousands of applications across heterogeneous enterprise environments. Design assessment frameworks covering technical health, cloud readiness, containerization and serverless readiness, modernization opportunities, dependencies, and integration topologies. Conduct technical interviews and workshops with development, operations, architecture, and executive stakeholders to complement automated discovery data with business and technical context. Produce executive-quality assessment reports, portfolio heat maps, technical findings, treatment recommendations, and application-level migration or modernization readiness scores. Design target-state cloud architectures across web, middleware, database, and application layers, primarily using AWS with awareness of Azure and GCP environments. Define DevSecOps transformation approaches covering CI/CD, automated testing, security scanning, infrastructure as code, and GitOps practices. Develop structured R-Treatment decision frameworks and determine appropriate application placement across modernization approaches based on business value, technical health, cloud fit, and strategic priorities. Design migration sequencing and wave plans that account for business priorities, technical dependencies, risk concentration, and delivery capacity. Build migration risk registers covering application, integration, data migration, and organizational change considerations. Translate assessment findings into milestone-driven modernization roadmaps, business cases, TCO and ROI models, and defensible application-level effort estimates. Own assessment and roadmap solutioning narratives for proposals, from discovery scoping through roadmap presentations and commercial structuring. Lead technical solution defense sessions with clients, alliance teams, and strategic partners. Collaborate on reusable assessment and strategy assets, GenAI-assisted assessment tooling, automated code analysis, dependency extraction, cloud readiness scoring, proofs of concept, and platform demonstrations. Requirements: 15+ years of experience in enterprise technology, including development and solutioning experience. 8–12 years of application architecture experience with demonstrated specialization in application portfolio assessment, migration strategy, and modernization roadmap development at enterprise scale. Proven experience leading assessments for large enterprise portfolios, ideally covering 50–1,000+ applications across heterogeneous technology landscapes. Strong multi-cloud experience designing migration and modernization architectures from on-premises environments to AWS, Azure, and/or GCP. Deep expertise in R-Treatment frameworks and the ability to independently classify applications and recommend modernization approaches with clear technical and business rationale. Strong understanding of containerization, serverless, re-platforming, rearchitecting, microservices, event-driven architecture, and API-first principles. Hands-on familiarity with application discovery and assessment tools such as AWS MGN, CAST, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, SonarQube, Veracode, and AWS X-Ray. Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture and AWS services across application platforms, databases, infrastructure, migration, data, and AI. Experience with DevSecOps toolchains including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Terraform, and CloudFormation. Ability to develop TCO models, ROI analyses, and modernization investment cases for executive audiences. Excellent written communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to produce board-quality assessment reports, portfolio heat maps, and roadmap presentations. Proven ability to work effectively in onsite-offshore delivery models and engage directly with C-suite and senior technical stakeholders. Strong consulting, solution engineering, or pre-sales experience is preferred. Ability to operate strategically while maintaining sufficient technical depth to evaluate complex application estates and transformation options.
