Director, Technology

Accountabilities:: Develop and execute technology strategies that align with business objectives, address client challenges, and drive innovation across complex digital initiatives. Collaborate directly with clients to understand their technology needs, recommend appropriate solutions, communicate strategic approaches, and build trusted long-term relationships. Lead the assessment, planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology programs, ensuring projects meet agreed timelines, budgets, scope, quality, and business objectives. Lead, scale, and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams, including distributed onshore and offshore resources, while fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development. Establish and evolve technology standards, engineering best practices, delivery methodologies, and software development processes across the technology practice. Partner with account leadership and cross-functional disciplines to identify opportunities, support business development, and translate technology capabilities into compelling client solutions. Guide architecture and engineering decisions across web and mobile platforms, enterprise CMS and digital experience platforms, cloud infrastructure, microservices, APIs, CI/CD, and DevOps. Provide technical leadership for Adobe and AEM initiatives, including architecture, prototypes, delivery guidance, engineering best practices, and adoption of emerging capabilities. Drive innovation across Generative AI, autonomous multi-agent systems, modern data platforms, neural networks, and AI-assisted software development . Maintain high standards for technology quality through architecture reviews, testing, code quality, performance optimization, security, compliance, and operational practices. Identify and mitigate technical, security, and delivery risks while managing priorities across complex multi-vendor solutions. Build productive relationships with technology vendors and partners to leverage external expertise, platforms, and resources. Promote modern AI coding practices using tools such as Gemini or Claude Code while ensuring strong code quality, automated testing, and production readiness. Contribute to internal technology initiatives, thought leadership, training materials, and programs that strengthen engineering capabilities and promote continuous improvement. Requirements: Significant experience in senior technology leadership, including experience building, scaling, and mentoring engineering teams of 10+ developers . Extensive experience leading full-stack development teams across web and mobile platforms . Proven ability to manage complex technology programs with multiple workstreams while maintaining accountability for quality, timelines, budgets, and delivery outcomes. Strong ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities and translate business requirements into effective technical strategies and specifications. Experience managing onshore, offshore, and globally distributed engineering teams . Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and organizational levels. Comfortable operating in highly ambiguous environments, identifying technology opportunities, defining solutions, and adapting strategies as requirements evolve. Demonstrated commitment to developing technology practices, internal standards, educational content, and initiatives that improve engineering maturity. Strong executive-facing communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technology and delivery strategies in clear, non-technical terms. Experience with modern architectural patterns such as Jamstack and MACH , as well as enterprise platforms including CMS, DAM, and CDN technologies. Strong expertise implementing, governing, and scaling multidisciplinary software development lifecycles across digital organizations. Experience with digital marketing technology stacks and their associated platforms and components. Proven ability to manage multi-vendor technology deliveries, prioritize competing requirements, and mitigate delivery and technical risks. Experience designing and implementing microservices architectures at scale , with strong expertise in cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, and Vercel . Proficiency with modern AI coding tools such as Gemini or Claude Code , including applications in specification-driven development, automated refactoring, and AI-assisted code reviews. Experience with autonomous multi-agent systems , including task planning, memory management, tool calling and APIs, and evaluation frameworks. Proven experience integrating complex third-party APIs while maintaining architectural consistency and system reliability. Experience implementing authentication solutions such as Auth0 and access-control systems for premium or paid content. Experience architecting and scaling e-commerce solutions , particularly with regard to security and payment flows. Strong understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for reliable and efficient software delivery. Experience with Adobe and AEM technologies, including AEM architecture, engineering practices, and modern Adobe delivery approaches, is highly relevant. Salary range of $163,000–$200,000 USD , with actual compensation determined by experience, qualifications, specialization, market conditions, and other business considerations.
