Director of Finance and Accounting

Accountabilities:: Direct general accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, accruals, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely reporting. Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other financial reporting deliverables. Ensure financial reporting complies with GAAP, internal policies, and established accounting standards. Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the chart of accounts and general ledger. Review financial results and investigate significant variances, trends, unusual transactions, and other areas requiring attention. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure appropriate segregation of duties, financial approval processes, documentation, and controls are consistently maintained. Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local financial and tax requirements. Coordinate annual financial statement audits and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable operations, including vendor payments, customer collections, aging, and credit exposure. Monitor daily cash positions, banking activity, reconciliations, and cash-management processes while supporting cash-flow forecasting. Identify opportunities to improve working capital, liquidity, and cash-management practices. Support annual budgeting and financial forecasting in partnership with executive leadership. Prepare budget-to-actual reporting and provide clear explanations of significant variances. Develop financial analyses using Power BI and other business analytics tools to support operational and strategic decisions. Monitor key financial and operational performance indicators and translate findings into actionable insights. Partner with operational leaders to assess profitability by customer, service line, business unit, or other relevant segments. Identify cost-saving opportunities, financial risks, and opportunities to improve profitability and overall financial performance. Requirements: Significant experience in accounting and financial management, with a strong understanding of general accounting, financial reporting, financial controls, and cash management. Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Practical knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general ledger management, banking, and cash-flow processes. Experience supporting audits and working directly with external auditors. Knowledge of federal, state, and local financial and tax compliance requirements. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, budget-to-actual analysis, and financial performance management. Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate variances, identify trends, assess financial risks, and communicate meaningful insights. Experience using Power BI or comparable business intelligence and financial analytics tools. Ability to partner effectively with executive and operational leadership and translate financial information into actionable business recommendations. Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and strong financial controls. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
