Control-M Support & Maintenance Engineer (L2/L3)

Accountabilities:: Provide L2/L3 production support for BMC Control-M workload automation and scheduling environments. Monitor daily batch operations, scheduled jobs, overnight processing cycles, and business-critical workloads to ensure timely completion. Investigate and resolve job failures, scheduling issues, workflow interruptions, and other production incidents while meeting SLA commitments. Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive actions to improve reliability and reduce recurring incidents. Create, modify, schedule, and maintain Control-M jobs, folders, workflows, calendars, scheduling tables, conditions, resources, alerts, and notifications. Manage Control-M agents, user access, security roles, operational controls, upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities. Handle job reruns, restarts, recovery procedures, failure management, and high-volume batch processing environments. Coordinate with application, database, infrastructure, and business teams during incidents and critical production events. Support scheduling-related changes, application releases, production deployments, CAB reviews, and end-to-end workflow validation. Identify opportunities for automation, workload optimization, proactive monitoring, and improved alerting. Develop reusable scheduling standards, operational best practices, and recommendations that reduce risk and improve service reliability. Maintain runbooks, SOPs, knowledge articles, job dependency documentation, escalation procedures, and recovery instructions. Support audit and compliance requirements while following ITIL practices for Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management. Participate in on-call and critical production support activities within a 24x7 operating environment. Requirements: 5+ years of hands-on experience with BMC Control-M Workload Automation, including Control-M Enterprise Manager, Server, Agents, SMART Folders, calendars, scheduling criteria, conditions, resources, alerts, notifications, and workload monitoring. 5+ years of experience in application support and enterprise production environments, with strong knowledge of batch processing, workload automation, and job scheduling. 3+ years of hands-on Control-M administration and support experience. Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix administration and Windows Server environments. Strong scripting experience with Bash or KornShell and PowerShell; Python experience is preferred. Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, including basic SQL troubleshooting and query execution. Experience with Managed File Transfer, SFTP/FTP, batch interfaces, and automated data-processing workflows. Familiarity with monitoring and service-management tools such as Control-M Monitoring, Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, and ServiceNow. Experience working in 24x7 support operations and handling critical incidents under pressure. Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management practices. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed and global teams while managing competing priorities. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. BMC Control-M certification is preferred. Experience with Azure or AWS, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and integrations with ERP, ETL, data warehouse, or business applications is advantageous.
