About the Role: Pocket FM is seeking an Audio Engineer to join our Japan team and ensure the highest quality audio experience across our Japanese catalog. This role is responsible for reviewing AI-generated audio, identifying quality issues, documenting corrections, and producing polished final episodes through audio patching, editing, and quality control. As the Audio Engineer, you'll work closely with Voice-Over Artists, production partners, and cross-functional teams to maintain exceptional technical and creative audio standards. You'll be responsible for identifying audio errors, coordinating revisions, and seamlessly stitching corrected dialogue, pickups, and re-recorded segments into finished episodes. This is an ideal opportunity for an audio engineering or post-production professional with a strong ear for voice performance, technical audio quality, and spoken-word production workflows who enjoys combining hands-on technical execution with creative judgment. Responsibilities: Perform quality control on AI-generated audio by reviewing completed episodes for pronunciation, pacing, emotional delivery, technical issues, and overall listening experience. Identify audio errors and document clear, actionable correction notes for Voice-Over Artists and production partners. Edit and patch audio by seamlessly stitching corrected dialogue, pickups, and re-recorded segments into finished episodes using professional audio editing and patching software. Ensure patched audio maintains consistent tone, pacing, ambience, volume, and technical quality throughout each episode. Troubleshoot audio issues related to cuts, mispronunciations, abrupt transitions, background noise, pacing, performance quality, and technical inconsistencies. Coordinate recording revisions and pickups with Voice-Over Artists and production partners to resolve quality issues efficiently. Maintain audio quality standards, QC processes, and documentation to ensure consistency across all productions. Collaborate with Content, Localization, Product, and Production teams to resolve production issues and continuously improve workflows. Track recurring quality issues and recommend process improvements to enhance production efficiency and listener experience. Qualifications: Hands-on experience in audio engineering, audio post-production, sound editing, dubbing, spoken-word production, or audio quality assurance within media, entertainment, gaming, or related industries. Experience reviewing spoken audio for pronunciation, performance quality, pacing, clarity, and technical accuracy. Proficiency using professional audio editing software and audio patching workflows to integrate pickups, corrections, and re-recorded dialogue into finished productions. Strong technical understanding of audio editing, patching, sound consistency, transitions, levels, ambience, and quality control. Experience coordinating with Voice-Over Artists, recording teams, studios, or production partners to resolve audio quality issues. Strong understanding of audio production workflows, recording processes, and quality assurance best practices. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle performance, linguistic, and technical issues. Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple productions simultaneously. Native or near-native Japanese language proficiency with excellent listening skills and cultural awareness. Experience in audio entertainment, gaming, animation, dubbing, podcasts, streaming, localization, or creator platforms is highly preferred.
