Sr. Network Engineer

PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 3 days per week (Monday–Wednesday or Tuesday–Thursday) with 2 days remote. The candidate must be in or near Charlotte, NC or have plans to relocate. This position includes participation in an on-call rotation to support critical network infrastructure.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and evolving LendingTree’s enterprise network infrastructure. You’ll serve as a subject matter expert across our Fortinet-based environment while helping modernize our network through cloud connectivity, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

You’ll work across Infrastructure Engineering, Security, Cloud Operations, and DevOps to build network services that are secure, scalable, highly available, and observable. This is a hands-on technical role with opportunities to influence architecture, lead projects, mentor engineers, and shape the future of LendingTree’s network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure, including Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiSASE, and FortiNAC.

• Design and support cloud networking solutions across AWS and Azure, including hybrid connectivity between cloud environments and LendingTree’s on-premises infrastructure.

• Lead network modernization and automation initiatives using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, scripting, APIs, and tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Python.

• Improve the reliability and observability of network services by defining and monitoring SLIs and SLOs, analyzing logs and performance data, participating in incident response, and driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.

• Establish and maintain network security policies, firewall rules, VPNs, segmentation, and other controls in partnership with Information Security.

• Troubleshoot complex network issues, respond to outages and performance problems, and participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical network infrastructure.

• Lead network architecture reviews, capacity planning, roadmap development, and infrastructure upgrades and expansions.

• Mentor junior network engineers and provide technical guidance across the organization.

• Develop documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and operational processes that improve the reliability and maintainability of network services.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll work closely with Infrastructure Engineering, Information Security, Cloud Operations, DevOps, and Platform Engineering teams to support LendingTree’s applications and technology environment. You’ll partner with technical stakeholders to design secure, reliable network solutions and translate infrastructure requirements into scalable implementations.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, project leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration. The role combines independent ownership with a highly collaborative operating model.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a related technical role.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Fortinet products, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, or FortiAP.

• Hands-on experience with cloud networking in AWS and/or Azure environments.

• Experience working in enterprise-scale environments and leading technical projects or initiatives.

• Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including BGP, OSPF, VLAN, STP, and LACP.

• Experience with VPN technologies such as IPSec, SSL VPN, and SD-WAN.

• Working knowledge of FortiOS, FortiGate firewall configuration, FortiSwitch, FortiAP wireless, and FortiSASE.

• Experience with network security principles, firewall policies, network segmentation, and VPN configuration.

• Scripting experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar tools.

• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code and automation technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.

• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with network monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as SumoLogic, FortiAnalyzer, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.

• Experience troubleshooting complex network issues using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong technical documentation skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively across teams.

The Details

Base Pay: $110,000–$140,000

The base pay offered may vary based on internal factors, job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience.

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Work Location: Charlotte, NC — hybrid schedule with 3 days in-office (Monday–Wednesday or Tuesday–Thursday) and 2 days remote.

On-Call: This position participates in an on-call rotation to support critical network infrastructure.

Nice to Have

• Fortinet NSE 5+ certification.

• AWS Advanced Networking Specialty or Azure Network Engineer Associate certification.

• CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification.

• Hands-on experience with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.

• Experience with containerized networking, including Kubernetes or Docker.

• Strong understanding of SRE practices, SLIs/SLOs, and incident management.

• Experience with network observability platforms such as SumoLogic, Datadog, or Splunk.

• Strong understanding of SD-WAN optimization and application-aware routing.

Education

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience will be considered.
