Senior Product Designer

As a Senior Product Designer at Melio, you will be instrumental in solving complex problems for our global users, setting the standards for UI components, interaction patterns, and product and visual design. You should have deep empathy for users and a strong commitment to user-centered design principles.

You will take ownership end to end, from research through prototyping to design and usability testing. You'll partner with product managers, engineers, and content strategists to oversee people's experience with the product from conception to launch. You will design flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant.

You'll work on money movement, where trust, clarity, and accuracy matter. You'll also be part of a team that treats AI as a core part of how we design and what we design. You'll use tools like Claude to explore faster, prototype in working code, and ship, and you'll shape how AI shows up in our product.

Our team prototypes in Claude Code and ships weekly. AI isn't a side experiment here. It's how we move from ideas to something users can try.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of demonstrated experience with end-to-end (hybrid UX and UI) product design in a software product company
• Proven, hands-on AI experience. You use Claude or similar tools (Claude Code, Cursor, v0, etc.) in your real workflow, and you can show what you've shipped or prototyped with them and explain what worked and what didn't.
• Experience designing AI-powered features, or a clear point of view on designing for non-deterministic systems (trust, transparency, error states, human-in-the-loop)
• Comfort turning designs into working prototypes, and working with engineers on what's ready to ship
• Excellent communication skills (able to clearly articulate design decisions)
• A strong design point of view and a high level of comfort with opposing opinions
• Experience participating in and facilitating design research, design sprints, and ideation sessions
• Demonstrated experience in building and shipping applications or software (mobile/web)
• Experience working from and contributing to established design systems/design language
• Ability to handle complex user requirements and translate them into coherent design solutions
• User-centered mindset: ability to advocate for user needs throughout the design and development process
• Strong problem-solving skills, fast learning, and an ability to work with data and usability testing
• Experience designing for diverse groups of people (international audiences)
• Extensive mastery of Figma/Sketch/InVision and other prototyping tools

Bonus points

• Expertise in data visualization and hierarchy within workflows. Expertise in creating coherent and readable information
• Experience in creating tools for B2B enterprise solutions
• Experience in fintech (payments, accounting, or financial workflows)
• Experience building or contributing to AI-enabled design systems, skills, or reusable prompt libraries
• Bachelor Degree in Design or Visual Communication 

How is your day going to look? What will you be doing?

• Taking broad, conceptual ideas and turning them into something useful and valuable for our users
• Emphasizing a strong product strategy and vision (not just "how should this look" but also "what should we build next") to meet and enhance business goals across the company
• Designing flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant
• Using Claude and other AI tools daily to research, ideate, and build interactive prototypes in code. You'll validate ideas with users and stakeholders in days, not weeks.
• Designing AI-powered experiences, such as automation, suggestions, and agentic flows. You'll define how they behave, how they earn user trust, and how they handle errors and uncertainty with money on the line.
• Making data-heavy financial workflows clear, scannable, and confident to use
• Taking part in defining a design system to be used across multiple products and platforms, and evolving it so it works for both designers and AI-assisted workflows
• Contributing to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the product and executive teams
• Giving and soliciting feedback from other designers to continually iterate and improve, and sharing AI workflows, prompts, and patterns that raise the whole team's craft and speed
• Partnering cross-functionally to oversee people's experience with the product from
