Cash Management & Banking Operations Specialist – Korea Based

Agoda Finance plays a central role in supporting the company's global expansion. Within Finance, BKNG Treasury manages liquidity, foreign exchange risk, banking relationships, and funding operations across Agoda and the wider Booking Holdings group. Our treasury centres sit in Bangkok, Amsterdam, Norwalk, and Bangalore — and we are now establishing a dedicated Korea-based Treasury Operations presence to support Agoda Payments Korea LLC (APK).
APK holds Korean Payment Gateway and specialised FX licenses that enable Agoda to acquire and settle KRW locally. Under the Electronic Financial Transactions Act (EFTA), effective 17 December 2026, APK must safeguard Protected Settlement Amounts through an approved product. We are operationalising a Trust structure with a Korean bank — a partially Korean-language-only banking environment that requires an on-the-ground, Korean-speaking Treasury colleague for day-to-day cash and banking operations.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Cash Management & Banking Operations Specialist based in Korea to own APK-specific treasury operations that cannot be run from our offshore centres. Roughly half of the role is cash management operations (positioning, funding, safeguarding execution, and local process documentation); the other half is banking operations and banking administration (Korean bank relationship ops, KYC/AML form handling, signatory management, and bank portal activity).
 

Today, much of this work is being bridged through a manual translation loop — Korean bank forms are translated to English for the Bangkok banking team, completed, translated back to Korean, and physically submitted at the branch. You will take ownership of that operating model end-to-end: working directly in Korean with our Korean banking partner, visiting the branch when required, running the online banking portal, and partnering closely with Bangkok Cash Management & Operations and Banking teams so APK stays compliant and operationally controlled.
Over time, you will get involved in supporting FSS safeguarding disclosures and regulatory reporting packs, acting as a backup on selected reporting activities, and broadening into additional APK treasury processes as the local operating model matures — working closely with our treasury teams in Bangkok, Amsterdam, Norwalk, and Bangalore.

What You’ll Do:

Cash Management Operations (APK)

• Operate APK-specific cash management activities for the Trust / safeguarding structure — including daily/periodic movement of funds into and out of the Trust as required to meet the applicable safeguarding ratio, and curing any shortfall within regulatory timelines.
• Support daily cash positioning and funding for APK accounts; after safeguarding obligations are met, support transfers of residual funds in KRW or via FX conversion to ACS as directed by the Asia Cash Management team.
• Maintain APK-specific cash management process narratives, key controls, and how-to-operate documentation (desk procedures) in both Korean and English so the Bangkok centre and local backup can operate consistently.
• Contribute to APK cash positioning and reporting inputs that feed consolidated BKNG cash reporting owned by the Asia Cash Management team.
• Partner with Controllership / Accounting on interest and P&L impacts linked to the Trust / safeguarding structure as required.

Banking Operations & Banking Administration (Korea)

• Own the day-to-day banking relationship operations with our Korean Banking partners: account maintenance, portal user access, permissions, and operational queries — primarily in Korean.
• Execute Global Bank Account Management (BAM) activities for APK that require local presence or Korean-language processing — including account opening follow-ups, amendments, and ongoing maintenance.
• Lead Korean-language KYC / AML bank form completion and annual refresh cycles: obtain forms from the bank, complete or coordinate answers with Bangkok Banking / Legal, submit physically at the branch or via the bank's required channel, and track renewal calendars.
• Support Global Signatory Management for APK where Korean-language documentation, corporate seals, Powers of Attorney, and in-branch wet-ink execution are required.
• Translate and interpret Korean bank manuals, notices, fee schedules, and regulatory communications for Bangkok Treasury colleagues; escalate material operational or control risks promptly.
• Build and maintain working relationships with Korean bank relationship managers and branch staff; represent APK Treasury professionally in branch visits and operational meetings.

Safeguarding, Controls & Regulatory Support

• Execute operational controls linked to the Trust / safeguarding process (reconciliations, shortfall identification, same/next-business-day cure support, and evidence retention for audit and FSS visibility).
• Support preparation of inputs for monthly FSS external-management reporting and website safeguarding disclosure (working with Legal / Compliance owners).
• Over time, develop capability to act as operational backup on selected APK regulatory reporting and accounting-ratio support activities, under guidance from Legal and Controllership.
• Identify inefficiencies in the current manual Korean-language operating model and propose practical improvements (process, dual-language SOPs, portal usage) without compromising control or segregation of duties.

Stakeholder Partnership

• Work as one team with Bangkok Cash Management & Operations and Banking colleagues who own the group standards, policies, and non-Korean-language workstreams.
• Partner with APK Legal (AML / regulatory), Tax, Controllership, FinTech / Payments, and BKNG Treasury counterparts so local Korea execution stays aligned with group policy.
• Occasional travel to Bangkok (and rarely Amsterdam) for onboarding, training, or Treasury offsites — typically limited and planned in advance.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in corporate treasury operations, cash management, banking operations, or payment-operations within a bank, payment institution, or multinational corporate — Korea experience strongly preferred.
• Native-level Korean (spoken and written) and strong business English — able to translate bank forms, manuals, and operational emails accurately and quickly in both directions.
• Hands-on experience with Korean bank online portals and comfort visiting bank branches to submit documents, resolve KYC issues, and manage signatory / seal processes.
• Familiarity with end-to-end bank account maintenance: account opening, ongoing KYC/AML refresh, signatory updates, and operational banking administration.
• Solid understanding of cash positioning, payment initiation / verification concepts, and basic reconciliation; ability to follow control frameworks with high accuracy.
• Awareness of Korean financial regulatory context (e.g. FSS, Bank of Korea, payment-gateway / electronic financial transactions environment) — deep expertise not required on day one, but willingness to learn quickly is essential.
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills; comfort using AI-assisted tools to draft dual-language documentation and accelerate translation workflows.
• Detail-oriented, self-directed, and reliable under time-sensitive regulatory deadlines; able to escalate clearly when something is blocked.
• Willingness and ability to work on-site in Korea for branch visits and bank interactions as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience at a Korean bank, PG (Payment Gateway), fintech, or the Korean subsidiary of a multinational treasury / finance team.
• Exposure to customer-fund / safeguarding / trust / escrow-style account structures, or regulated payment-institution operations.
• Experience supporting regulatory reporting to the FSS or Bank of Korea, or preparing audit / compliance evidence packs.
• Familiarity with treasury management systems (TMS), ERP banking modules, or cash reporting dashboards (Tableau or equivalent).
• Experience writing bilingual (Korean / English) process documentation and training materials.
• Interest in growing into a broader BKNG Asia Treasury contributor over time on non-Korean-language workstreams, while remaining APK-anchored for local ops.
