In this role, you can make an impact and grow with us as Software Engineer You'll help build Recare's Operator, our agent that gets AI-generated clinical output into hospital systems by operating their existing software the way a person would, no bespoke interface required. It's the sharp end of our integration strategy: a Windows desktop application that automates UI interactions with hospital systems, running on doctors' devices and often inside RDP or Citrix environments. The first version is already live – you'll help expand its capabilities and make it reliable in production. You build and improve integrations between hospital systems and Recare products. You implement and harden computer-use automation flows so they work reliably in production, including edge cases, recovery, and safety rails. You partner with clinical domain experts to turn ambiguous workflows into shippable plans and robust implementations that solve real customers' needs. You contribute across the stack as needed, including our Go-based gateway. You invest in observability foundations (logs, metrics, traces) so we can trust the system in production. Frontier models – we build on the best models available and adopt new capabilities as they ship, not a release later. Unglamorous foundations – engineers get the time to build the eval harnesses, guardrails, and observability that make AI trustworthy in production, not just the feature on top. Here's how we picture you as our Software Engineer You're a builder with a hacker mindset: you default to building rather than waiting, and you're solution-oriented rather than problem-oriented. You have professional backend experience in Go, Python, or TypeScript, and you can point to production software you shipped and owned. You're comfortable working on integration-heavy systems: APIs, workflows, data models, auth, and real-world edge cases. You're pragmatic about reliability: you care about monitoring, debugging, test coverage, and making systems operable. You're excited to use AI coding agents daily and have opinions on how to use them effectively. You're ambitious but frustration-tolerant. Hospital IT is complicated and progress is hard-won; you stay relentless, get your hands dirty, and iterate until it works. You communicate confidently in English and collaborate well across Product, Engineering, and Operations. Nice to have: German language skills. Experience with Electron or TypeScript on the desktop side. Experience with healthcare IT systems (HIS, KIS, PVS, EMR) and interoperability standards such as HL7 v2 or FHIR.
