Lead Frontend Engineer (m/f/d) - Web Platform & Architecture

Your mission As a Lead Frontend Engineer (m/f/d), you will be a key driver in shaping and evolving our web platform in a dynamic, technology-driven environment. You are comfortable working across architecture, hands-on development, and the continuous improvement of our applications, with a strong focus on quality, scalability, performance, and user experience. At the intersection of Frontend Engineering, Backend, Product, and Platform, you will take technical ownership of key areas of our web platform. You will build high-performance, scalable, and user-centric solutions, actively shape our frontend architecture, and ensure sustainable technical decisions. In this role, you will act as a technical leader and trusted sparring partner within the team. You challenge existing solutions, contribute ideas proactively, and help drive architecture, technology, and quality decisions. At the same time, you remain hands-on and work closely with the team to implement key initiatives. Your tasks: Frontend Development & Architecture Develop and maintain the frontend of our web platform using React and TypeScript Contribute to architecture and design decisions for a modular and future-proof platform Build reusable components, frontend modules, and backend-for-frontend solutions Evolve our application architecture with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and performance Develop and integrate RESTful APIs using Node.js and NestJS Work in an agile team with close collaboration across Product, Backend, and Platform teams Product, Quality & Automation Deliver complex use cases with a strong focus on user experience and consistency Translate business and design requirements into sustainable technical solutions Design and implement modern testing and quality assurance strategies Conduct code reviews and continuously improve code quality and maintainability Drive automation, developer experience, and engineering standards Continuously optimize frontend performance and overall user experience AI-Assisted Engineering & Innovation Leverage modern AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar solutions as part of the daily development workflow Ensure the quality, security, and maintainability of AI-assisted software development Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and engineering approaches Contribute to our technical roadmap and AI-assisted engineering best practices Technical Leadership & Collaboration Provide technical guidance and mentoring to frontend engineers and adjacent teams Help define architecture principles, quality standards, and engineering best practices Support the team with complex technical challenges Facilitate technical decision-making and collaborate closely with Product Management, Backend Engineering, and Platform teams Your profile Your Way of Working You are solution-oriented and able to communicate complex technical topics in a structured way You think beyond individual features and design solutions with scalability, maintainability, and user value in mind You challenge architectures and processes constructively and actively seek better solutions You communicate your ideas proactively and can explain technical decisions clearly You take ownership and drive topics independently from concept to delivery You combine technical leadership with a strong hands-on mentality You enjoy collaborating and supporting other engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharing Quality, performance, maintainability, and user experience are core principles for you Your Qualifications Degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification Several years of professional experience in modern web application development Experience in a technical leadership or senior engineering role Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS Proven experience designing modern frontend architectures and RESTful APIs Excellent understanding of modular application and system architectures Experience with testing strategies, code reviews, and modern quality assurance practices Experience with HTML, CSS, Sass, relational databases, and SQL Experience with monorepos and modern dependency management is a plus Hands-on experience with AI-powered developer tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot Experience mentoring and supporting the professional growth of engineers is a plus Our Tech Stack React & TypeScript Node.js & NestJS Zustand & Redux Mantine & Material UI SQL & Relational Databases NX Monorepo & Renovate RESTful APIs Cursor & Claude Code Languages Fluent English (working language) German is a plus Our offer Exciting challenges and excellent development opportunities in a constantly growing, international team Freedom to develop own ideas and thus make an active contribution to the success of our company Attractive remuneration with variable components as part of a total compensation system Great colleagues, a friendly working atmosphere and numerous employee events Modern workplace in the heart of Munich with view of the Theresienwiese Modern employee benefits - bike leasing, meal vouchers, BAV, Deutschlandticket, benefits account & Wellpass Fitness Hybrid working model Free drinks and fruit as well as a well-filled ice box in summer Find more English Speaking Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow
