Senior Firmware Engineer, Industrial Robotics Group

Amazon Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale. We're building revolutionary Basic qualifications: - 7+ years of professional experience delivering production embedded firmware for motor control systems - A proven record of owning the full software development lifecycle end to end in robotics or industrial automation, and being accountable for the outcomes - Expert-level command of software architecture design and C/C++ development for resource-constrained embedded systems - Deep, hands-on proficiency with ARM architecture, processor peripherals (timers, PWM, ADC, communication interfaces), standard interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN), and industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT) - Extensive, production-grade experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS - Authoritative expertise in Field-Oriented Control (FOC) and advanced motor control strategies - Hands-on experience with power electronics, schematic reading, and close collaboration with hardware engineers - A demonstrated track record as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead who raises the bar for those around them Preferred: - Solid working knowledge of IEC 61508 (Functional Safety of Electrical/Electronic Systems), with a practical grasp of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) and the full safety lifecycle - A firm foundation in cybersecurity principles and standards for embedded systems - Working knowledge of bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms - Practical familiarity with robotic control systems architecture - Applied experience with model-based development and code generation (MATLAB/Simulink) - Hands-on exposure to continuous integration and automated testing Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
